Poetry for Mugen

Hi IMT!!! You guys are great!!! This post might be a little off topic about Mugen but I felt that I just need to say this.

How about you use a little poetry for Mugen? I mean, you could add some poetry to the character and game intro's and endings. Maybe you could add a bit of feeling of epic poetry to the game?

I'm not that good but I can make a lot of poems for you guys.

Also some people see the word poetry and they close their minds to it without knowing what it is so you may not have as big of a hit unless you develop great poems and characters or even a full game to go with it and have a certin art style that works with whatever the gerneral subjectmatter of your writing will be.

Thanks, Spidermew, for your consideration. Actually, I have made a lot of peoms about different things in the past. If you like, I can make new poems and send them to you as samples.

Well, here it is...


Ryu

A man destined to be a world warrior,
He has shown great fighting skills and valor.
He goes from one country to another,
Perfecting his skills learned from his master.

He’s a good friend and a real hero too.
He’s always saved the world from Shadaloo.
Being adept in self-control and good,
He always amazes a kid or two.

Now, he journeys once more to fight evil,
Bringing with him great courage and goodwill.
A brand new chapter begins at a glance.
The fate of the world lies in his strong hands.


I hope you like it. I will appreciate your comments. I will make other poems right away and post it in this thread too.

Ken

He’s a real expert at using combo’s.
And he’s so adept at looking nice too.
He’s fast and furious when he fights evil.
He willingly protects Earth with his skill.

Being an idol of many people,
He has always shown a good example.
He has displayed great coolness and calmness,
And never showed a bit of anxiousness.

No enemy big or small can scare him.
Not even Bison or Apocalypse.
In saving mankind, he’s always ready.
And right now, he is being called by duty.

To the ones to dislike Poetry: Poetry is the base for ALL SONGS  in almost all music styles (Rock,Rap,Hip Hop,Pop,Metal) If not,look at the lyrics of each songs.They are all a Poem.

He’s a great super heavyweight boxer,
Not many people can match his power.
His punches are really brute and intense,
He gives his opponents fear so immense.

He doesn’t care much about rules and laws,
He just does what he wants to and then goes.
Only a few people dare fight this guy,
Most are scared of being smashed like pies.

And now, this man travels the world once more,
Looking for fun, awesome fighting galore.
Will he get beaten by his foes this time?
You decide his fate, it’s your time to shine!

Magneto

He always cares about the mutant race.
His compassion can be seen on his face.
He’ll never let a mutant be enslaved,
He’ll protect them from harmful human rage.

He’s done great destruction due to his cause,
But it was so necessary, of course.
All those that pose a threat to mutantkind,
Will be eliminated in due time.

Now that the mutants face danger again,
He will not just be sitting on his chair.
He’ll eagerly seek the source of danger,
Destroy the menace and prove who’s master!

Wolvenom

You can’t scare him, no, you just simply can’t,
His courage is too high to understand.
His fighting ability’s so dreaded,
It’s not something you’d easily forget.

A fierce mutant plus a dread symbiote,
It’s double the action and the chaos!
Beware of his no holds barred attitude,
It makes havoc of intense magnitude!

He seeks to finish a near endless war,
Against a spider and tiger mutant.
The battle’s already taken so long,
It’s time to conclude it, once and for all!

I hope this one's good enough to be used in an intro.

nothing wrong with poetry, but why in a fighting game?

IMO if poetry is in a fiighting game, it should be freeverse.
The rhyming can be good for some, but for others it makes it sound cheesy as hell.
Freeverse poetry is no set scheme to follow, just raw emotion flying through in the form of wordplay.
It doesn't have to rhyme, it doesn't have to have stanzas. It just....is.
And that would probably be best if one MUST have poetry.

@ Kenne: I liked the first one, but the ones after that.....it just started sounding too cheesy for this game IMO, or the characters for that matter. However just as poetry they are good, just not for the game IMO.

Freeverse is poetry, just not set into standards like couplets and such.

There's a difference between:

Couplet
Flaming energy escaping your fists
Whether you win or lose depends if you hit or miss

and
Freeverse
As your internal flow of chi is rerouted towards your fists in an explosion meant to cinch your victory, the only word that you can bring yourself to escape your mouth is: HADOUKEN!

See the difference?
Both are poetry, yet both give you different feelings when you read it. Just my $0.02

Human Torch for you!!!

Human Torch

Admirable courage burns in his heart,
His goodwill glows like twenty thousand lights.
He is always ready when duty calls,
A real fantastic hero all in all.

He got his cool powers from cosmic rays,
And now, he is using it with good grace.
To all those that want to conquer this Earth,
You have to go through this swell hero first.

This man of fire was summoned from his peace,
By tearing noises and cries of unease.
Right away, he goes forth to do action,
To save Earth from horrific destruction!


I'm thinking of doing Ash Williams next.
