First attempts to sprite edit - Spectre

So I recently started screwing around with some of the graphic apps and thought maybe I could do something with Spectre...the bases are pretty obvious, except for the face. It's Cable's with some shadowing.

I have a few of the sprite attempts leading through the process saved, so thought I'd post them to show what I did.

Not finished yet, but you can see the direction:





the boots are there because next step i'm gonna make him look as he's flying with edits on the feet. i'll probably adjust the cape and hood too a little. still feeling out the whole shading thing.

Edit: forgot to say special thanks to Z999 with some of the abs as he helped at CVG with a guide i partially followed. i cut his, but had to edit around them some.

also, shulbocka helped with some of the palette adjustments to kong's cap.

Not shabby just work on the Coloring and make it a lil darker, so the details really show

so ALEXZIQ at CVG suggested something with urien, so here is a test.

sorry for all the negative space around this as not sure how to do whatever yet to avoid that.

here is the trial run of putting cap's gloves and boots on urien, as well as picking out a trial stance if i went that route.


although after i did such was wondering about if i could just recolor urien's hands. can someone please give me feedback on that thought plz?

btw, i know i got lazy on the tights and the tops of the boots, but it was all just a test.

The left leg doesnt match up, you might want to try straighter legs, or use a foot of Caps pointed in the same direction. The gloves arent bad, arent Spectres gloves shorter?

Well, one test i failed here was figuring out how to just save the selection around the image...i just cant figure that out.

But I'm pretty happy with test of general editing and filling in the blanks. Tried a new trick with free form select I liked alot.

This is pretty close to final, all thats left to figure out is how to do the tights (which i might get help with) and trying it all again for real with the real colors i want for Spectre on Urien/Cable.

So other than maybe help with the tights, may I ask you all what you think of the left shoulder, as something seems off to me about it in regards to how the cape is in that general area.

So its looking like this will be a WIP by me, JasonTodd, and a couple other CVG United people.

That said, I have a question. Thoughts on if I changed the cape to Magneto's instead?

Sometimes Doom's gets a little unwieldy considering the body base is a little on the slimmer side.
