@ Dante909: I lost the PSD file too  :'(. It's so bad when you realized that you left some information left when you do a system restore. The triangle will be added, right now I'm redoing the PSD files :).

@ Acey: About the diamond shape, actually Checho, from Mugen LatinoAmerica, help me with this. This kind of roster actually works with Full Games only, due to the details in the portraits. And well, just to let you all know, it works fine  :) only for player 1 for now, I still need to work in the one for P2 and the selection aura-diamond.

Hmm... How about this for the select counter, it shows the selected character(like you got it in your pic) for both players, but player one is going to have a red aura for the diamond and it'll say 1P inside the aura. For player two, do the same thing but its aura will be blue and It'll say 2p inside the aura.

Np, but just in case, try making both of them blink, that way you can see the selected character face once their hilighted.

Your new seelct screen address an old mugen restriction which is diamond select screens. Perhaps you have figured it out. When you add chars to this screen pack how do you move around? For example, if you start with the red circle and you press down, where does the section go? If it goes to the right or left, then how does the cursor move to compensate the shift of the sell? If if goes to the middle then how do you get to the right or left ones?

If you've figured this out then you should pat yourself on the back.



actually fixing that is not that hard so that you dont go over empty spaces. I solved it in MVC3 as well as Drex did it another way in his CVS2 pack. Its just a matter of overlapping cells and knowing where to add blank spaces

thanks , if you need help with getting the cells aligned correctly so you dont have to do it the hard way, let me know ill help any way i can.

the background in the ending of MVC2 could look cool as the background of your select screen as well, depending what kind of theme or style you're going for.

    Well, I decided to post just updates in this post once I get almost 70 % with a char, so to let all of you know.

UPDATES SO FAR:


  • Ryu has reached the beta testing phase, and was sent to some creators time ago. I'll work in all the suggestions ASAP.



  • Megaman will have some of his classic moves...



  • A try with Leo's pallete, to make it more Alpha style.



  • I have new plans for the portrait, especially the select screen. While it will keep as it is now (diamonds), the look will be a little like MvC 2 in regards on how the portrait pop-up(I have been thinking in a way to do it, and looks like it can be possible, althought it will take time). About the BG, I already have an excellent one, however, it's dimension is low and I need to find a way to resize it and keep it at the best it can be. Also, I did a concept for the logo, based in the CFJ/CFE style. Not the definitive one, though.



  • I'll work with Akito, Joe and Rose ASAP. Those 3 are my priorities, once Ryu can be released.


  • A new stage was made by me, Ruins from CFJ, with super jump (thanks to sensei Yoda for his help, thanks buddy ;D!!!). The shot shown here is a little old, plus it's from the low-res version (it has 2 versions, low and hi-res). I still need to know the opinions of the team about the stages, so we keep with a style like this, the past one (Prospered Fatherland) or something else.

Thanks Near, but now I'll just correct the bugs and maybe add some other things SF3 and maybe SF4-based. Ryu will be one of the chars that will have a different sprite version (taking out Ken and Akuma, to avoid problems) and so, a different gameplay version.

About the stages, while I like the ones of CFJ, I still need to think about stages for other chars, from other games, like Megaman, Star Gladiator, Dino Crisis and Resident Evil, to name some. I need to see if the custom ones don't clash with the CFJ-ones.

So will Rival Schools characters be MvC styled?...Or is it all being made to a "custom" style...
We're going for a more MvC-Style for now. I didn't receive suggestions about what to add, so I think the game will be similar to the first MvC (assist cameos, tag hyper combo). We could still consider the delayed hyper combos or/and the Duo attack. The Battle System in general will be as follow:

BATTLE SYSTEM

6 buttons
Dash, Aerial Dash & Backward Dash.
Super Jump
Alpha Counter [Stand-alone]
Push Block
Hyper Combos
Tag Team (TO BE ADDED IN A FUTURE TIME)
Dialogues [Pre-Battle]
Win Screens
1-Match Battles
Intro & ending

Updates:

- Ryu (SFA sprites) is finished. So now we have the final base to work :).


- Viewtiful Joe was updated (minor fixes and a new hyper). Next release will be now with the new sprites, unless something critical is found in this one.



- The Hyper BG's will have different color, depending of the character you're controlling (thanks for the idea Daeron!).

- New Regina design is on the works. I'm working in this one thanks to Li Kun, creator of Hinata, Kyoko & Tifanny.


- Lou has joined to the roster, thanks to Laspacho  :).


- The roster have new changes. You can get an idea from the new sigs and banners at Sinhra, but there are one or two surprises more.


And that's it for now. Expect a Ryu release and Viewtiful Joe update very soon ;).
