For example, when you want to post a preview of it in a thread, normally you'd just take a screenshot of it, but that includes the characters and lifebars.

Is there a way that those can be removed for screengrabs?

Also, I saw on someone's website who created a dot (.) as a character, labeled the smallest MUGEN fighter. If nothing else that would work, does anyone have it?

Is it the background from the arena you want to take a picture of?

If so, download Fighter Factory and open up the stage. Then save the images of the stage and it will save the images as pcx. Hope that helps! :)
The cake is a PIe!

I want to take a picture of the stage as it's seen during a match, but preferably without the characters shown.

Ctrl+l to remove lifebars.

Unfortunately, this does not work.

------------------------

I did some more searching and found this from the System.def:

[Demo Mode]
enabled = 1               ;Set to 1 to enable demo mode, 0 to disable
select.enabled = 1        ;Set to 1 to display select screen, 0 to disable
vsscreen.enabled = 0      ;Set to 1 to display versus screen, 0 to disable
title.waittime = 600      ;Time to wait at title before starting demo mode
fight.endtime = 1500      ;Time to display the fight before returning to title
fight.playbgm = 1         ;Set to 1 to enable in-fight BGM, 0 to disable
fight.bars.display = 0    ;Set to 1 to display lifebar, 0 to disable
intro.waitcycles = 1      ;Cycles to wait before intro cutscene is played again
debuginfo = 0             ;Set to 0 to hide debugging info (debug mode only)

I can confirm that the bars ARE hidden when my demo runs.

Also is the following always true:

Debug Keys In Mugen
F1 = Reduces Player 2 Life To Zero
F2 = Reduces All To HP Of 1
F3 = Restores All Players Power To Max
F4 = Restarts Round
F5 = Turns Time To 0
F12 = Takes Pictures In The Game And Converts To A PCX File In the Folder
Spacebar = Restores Both Players HP And Power To Max
Shift + F2 = Player 1 HP Reduces To 1
Ctrl + F2 = Player 2 HP Reduces To 1
Ctrl + F1 = Reduces Player 1 HP To 0
Ctrl + C = Show Collision Boxes
Ctrl + S = Speed Everything Up Boxes
Ctrl + D = Display/Hide Debug Info
Ctrl + I = Force Both Characters Into Standing State
Pause = Pauses Game
Scroll Lock = While Paused, Frame Advance
Ctrl + l = Display/Hide Lifebars

I tried the function keys without any result.

The reason you can't use those functions or remove the lifebars on the screen is because debug keys is disabled on your mugen.cfg:

Code: [Select]
;Set to 1 to allow debug keys at all times. Otherwise debug keys
 ;allowed only in debug mode.
AllowDebugKeys = 0

Change it to this:

Code: [Select]
;Set to 1 to allow debug keys at all times. Otherwise debug keys
 ;allowed only in debug mode.
AllowDebugKeys = 1

Make sure AllowDebugMode is set to 1 aswell.

Code: [Select]
;Set to 0 to disallow switching to debug mode by pressing Ctrl-D.
 ;If Debug = 1, this will be ignored.
AllowDebugMode = 0

change it to this:

Code: [Select]
;Set to 0 to disallow switching to debug mode by pressing Ctrl-D.
 ;If Debug = 1, this will be ignored.
AllowDebugMode = 1
