video screen recording
« on: March 21, 2009, 08:44:11 AM »
Help with screen recording. Okay first have to say, I have 504 RAM, so maybe this is the problem, but then why do I sometimes get a good video to begin with?

I use Camstudio, and every so often I will get a good video with certain settings. But then those same setting will never work again. Can someone tell me how to make the video input more consistent or should I use a different recorder?

Try recording with low frames per second and work your way up until the video is decent. You can also try to stop any other program from running in the background when you're recording, if you aren't already.

I read somewhere that it only records for about 30 seconds. I need to capture about 5 min or so.

Somewhere else someone said some program called super screen capture, whatever that is.

Basically what I need is whatever makes the smoothest vids with the least RAM (or at least with 504) and can record for 5 minutes.

El Chupacabras, that would make sense but for some reason on occassion I get great vids, check http://www.youtube.com/user/volzzilla for the couple that went good. Problem is those same settings then do not work again and I have no idea why. And its not a program running thing as when recording, all that is up is recorder and mugen.

cool, any help i can get to solve this, i appreciate it. don't forget, my RAM is only 504, so that could limit options, but if I made too pretty good vids, something should be worked out.

I have a pc with the same limitations as your......I use snagit8......what I suggest its that you dont run any other programs while making the video...and also try to use a mugen with just the necesary chars and stage (just to keep low the ram usage)
