To solver this question is simple. Remake the Thing fights with another user who doesn't participate the tourney using the same version who was used in the first fights.

Is it really that hard for anyone to see Thing winning  :-?? I mean he regularly goes roughshot over my Hulk's ai at home. The only shock to me was Hulk made it go to three

"so, can we keep talking ? Or do I have to kill you now ?" Hyperion - Exiles #63

Since the entire timeline needs to be gone over again, I will do so. I came up with this entire idea because I thought most people would think it was cool. At the time I did not even know how to record  mugen play for YouTube. Since that time I now have over 3000 videos watched by others, so I guess I figured it out. But I knew I could not record sound, nor add text boards, nor had the capability to spruce up the videos with any other production capabilities.

So I offered to do the bulk of the opening rounds, and the website partner would do the rounds where production levels might need to be higher. I told him of the versions of chars using and I thought we had total synchronization there. This was mistake, but we will come back to that.

So for Batzarro's representative, I used the most up to date Thing from Warner's site. He was one of the better entrants, but testing up to that point proved he could be beaten. This version won the first three rounds,  2 by close margin, 1 very close and almost lost, to Silver Surfer.

I then passed off the video making to mmcelhaney. Maybe it is because I had recently seen a ton of videos with Warner's most recent version, but I knew when I saw Rorschach win, especially in the manner he did something was off. So I watched it again and compared the fight styles, and totally different.

I then did some more testing, 10 fights, same format Thing vs. Rorschach and showed these stats to mmcelhaney to show the wrong version was used. He admited to not using the most recently updated version so he fought the fight again. Those same stats were posted here earlier and I show them here now again:
So I did some more tests after the initial semifinal results using the same fight format, 10 fights, here is the breakdown.
Thing wins 3-2 30%
Thing wins 3-1 60%
Thing wins 3-0 10%

Here are the three fights in question again as well as an example of an earlier round:
The version used the first three rounds

When the wrong version of the Thing was used by mmcelhaney
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlrqnOMSc1w&feature=channel_page#
When he fought the fight again using the updated version
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgVlpIhdHZs&feature=channel_page#
Third fight to satisfy things, or so I had hoped

I thought things were cleared up, even Batzarro commented about how this seemed fine. Acey made some mistaken comment that could have inferred human playing and I denied it then and I still do, based off how I suck using a laptop keyboard.

This was the end until having to go through the timeline again. If someone has still has questions recommend watching these fights once more, as well as running their own battery of 10 tests to find statistics on the Thing/Rorschach match up. Heck I bet mmcelhaney still has the wrong version of Thing that he is willing to send to you as well for additional testing purposes.

There was no " accusation "

Here's the deal , I seen The Thing lose in the semi finals . All of a sudden there is two Things used by accident . So the battle has to take place again . The " new " Thing completely destroys Rorshach this time . Then everyone complains about that , & a new battle takes place . Thing beats up on Rorshach again . Not as bad this time . Then The Thing goes on & wins the tournament .

You should know from a journalist position , this is a very tainted victory , filled with controversy

I really don't see how there's any controversy, really, 'cause all of the characters ended up having their latest updated version, in the end used. Wouldn't that mean that everything ended up fair? I didn't feel cheated, I thought it was great.

He's right about one thing in all of this. Events of this nature should be done on just one machine. This type of error should not happen again in the future since the root of the problem has been clearly defined.

Let's caulk it up to inexperience and move on.

Thought this was all cleared up. Anywho, I don't see any controversy here at all. No one else has said anything about it being such a big deal, and everyone else seemed fine with the way this was all handled.

As for it being a "tainted" victory, perhaps just to you, dt. I mean, all I did was put my bet on Thing winning. If he didn't, oh well, didn't lose anything. Since he did, I get to pick some article topics, that's not the biggest deal either. Win or lose, didn't really matter to me, was just interested in the fights and this seems to have become a bit too serious for no reason.

Hell, if the char I chose to win got beat by the one to win it all, I'd be happy. That'd mean who I picked only got beat by the best in that tournament. Maybe that's just me though. :-??

Very well said Batzarro. The original goal was just to give everyone something cool to enjoy in a different format regarding Mugen. You got that point, so did Hyperion76, and numerous others.

Had I just been a 3rd party who was not involved in organizing and entered it, I would have more been concerned with having fun with just participating.

I told a few people the character I would have chosen if I had the chance was the Jean Grey edit. I love that character and how she can telekinetically grab her opponents and throw them around :) And I would have cared less had I lost....which she did in the first round, but she tossed Batman around a few times before doing so, lol.

Just to clarify on the prizes for Batzarro and Hyperion76. For coming in first, Batzarro gets to decide on 2 pieces of future content for the website, and Hyperion76 will receive a WIP focus article on his Hyperion in the future.

And when we have a sprite contest based off characters that are discussed in articles that can be seen here: http://www.infinitymugenteam.com/Forum_345/index.php?topic=21410.0
...they will each be able to select the sprite they like the best to be displayed on the website, as well as display their own if they decide to enter. If you take that link above, you will also see a few sprites that were already shown. This contest will not happen until more What If? articles have been published though (expect 2 new ones in the coming weeks)

Okay, second chance tourney time! Due to how great you all were, decided to make this an exclusive IMT forum thing. Characters that qualified were:
- Those that represented IMT Forum members
- Lost a close match
- Did not make the Quarterfinals

And one character gets the ultimate second chance in Colossus. He was originally slotted to enter, but in an effort to get some recruiting to fill the last slots, he was removed so as a first round bye could be offered as an incentive.

Here are the brackets:
Group A
Cable --- Technology
Storm --- Gate
Rogue --- Uche
Aquaman --- zvitor

Group B
Ms.Marvel --- ace_tales
Colossus --- Bonobi
Iron Man --- Djoulz
Deadpool --- M.Chidori

Whichever character wins this 3 round tourney will win their representative the ability to help decide a future WIP Focus article.

Good Luck to you all!

I can't even believe this tourny.  8=|
You have to love it when people try to stir up internet drama...not.

And judging by most things, I'd say the response to the tourney was positive. And I thank those people.

OK , yes the tournament was controversial . But everyone drop that topic ( including you volzilla ) & move on from it .

For or against we don't care anymore . volzilla you seem to start things back up by quoting things from 2 days ago . Stay on topic . If anyone wants to argue the fact , if the tournament was tainted or not , PM volzilla .

Hopefully if they have another one , it will be run a little better .

So , No more comments about it . I expect the next post to be about the second chance thing .

Its not like we were giving away a million dollars  L-)  :-@ 8-}, the point of the tourney was fun, and most people got that point.  :P

As for second chance tourney, might not post all fights in one big bulk like before. Plus, no posts on the main website. All fights will go live immediately when uploaded, and I'll post them here asap after.

This is a personal thing to give back to those that enjoyed it here, and since I'm the one handling the prize (write the WIP article) no need to be as secretive as before when we included it on the website.

Yea, I would not have picked Spawn, as that version is pretty weak. If I would have entered with hopes of winning I would have picked a character that is in this video :) That is as much teaser as I'll share.

Here is the first fight of the Second Chance Tourney, exclusive only to this forum due to the great support you all have shown.

Ms. Marvel --- representing ace_tales
Vs.
Colossus --- representing Bonobi

Enjoy.

Please refrain from offering up short spoiler information as some people may want to watch the fight to find out the result.

But since the cat is out of the bag, to answer Uche's question. Had I been a third party entrant looking for a win, I would have picked Colossus as he is pretty strong and has some damaging combos (that dive bomb move into a combo will mess people up.)

Though odds are, I would have gone with the pick of a fun character route as stated before and selected the edited Jean Grey :)

Yung, Thor was not an option this time, but perhaps in the future look for a heavyweight division in which he will be.

Bonobi brings up a  point I'd like to make. Whoever wins the second chance tourney will have to make a short list of WIPs they are hoping to be featured in a future article, and not just their one favorite. I say this because there is no guarantee that first choice will want to partake in such an interview. So whoever will have to make a short list, and put an order of preference. And now to business...

Deadpool --- representing M.Chidori
Vs.
Iron Man --- representing Djoulz

Enjoy, and please refrain from giving short spoiler information to honor those that might want to find out the results by watching the video.

Thank you.
