When you post feedback......

A bit of a general subject here.

After looking at different releases on forums and looking at how people give their feedback I was wondering how do most people like to give their feedback? A few people give a list of what's wrong with the character without say whether they liked it or not, however I think this should be included even if they don't like it (not that i would agree with someone saying “its crap”) because that will tell the creator if its necessary to go along with the updates or not.

Also from a creators point of view if your topic gets 800+ views, and no replies what would you assume?

-They are afraid to comment because of moderators
-Someone has spread some bad comments about you blemishing your reputation.
-There is nothing wrong with your character (yes!)
-The creator knows what he/she is doing and he will find all the bugs anyway.
-Users are afraid the creator/author/editor is going to “bit their head” off with the troll like remark's if they comment.
-The users knows that the comment might hurt the creators feelings
-That members of the forum think that you wont listen their feedback
-They are not interested in your release

Also I think when the creator does an update on a creation afterwards based on what someone has said it would be nice to hear if your have done it right or not too.

The poll is here because I'm curious, how do members here like to give their feedback?

Just Provide a list of bugs
Provide a list of bugs and add a mild mannered opinion on the character
Provide a list of bugs with a strong opinion

A lot of the times I don't want to give feedback I just want to download.

Me, If I download it and find things, I'll bring them to attention. No need to be cross or an @$$ about it either. To me, Ffeedback is just feedback, not an e-peen contest or an excuse to vent on someone.

800 veiws & no replies ?

here's what I would assume

-Someone has spread some bad comments about you blemishing your reputation.
-Users are afraid the creator/author/editor is going to “bit their head” off with the troll like remark's if they comment.
-They are not interested in your release

Either one of those 3 .

I mean cmon , if you have 800 veiws & not ONE person commented out of those  ? There must be something really wrong .

As for giving feedback , I rarely give feedback . Yeah , as a creator this helps us find things we missed & bugs with the characters & I realize that . I know what you are thinking , I am a terrible person , I should be beaten or something . 

Seriously , though the reason I don't leave feedback is because . When I download another creator's works , most of the time I am so busy with my own creations , I don't have time to test them . They usually sit on my hard drive for 3 months & then I give them a try .  By then the creator already has an update that I download & things are fixed . If it does happen to be something I was waiting for release . I usually play one round & get back to whatever I am doing .

Im am very much full of self doubt, so I assume the worst.

As for feedback, i give a list of bugs and add a mild mannered opinion on the character.

Man , no one cares if they hurt a creators feelings on the internet . That reason is invalid

This reason would be better ....

-The user does not like this release , but doesn't want to say anything to upset you , in fear that you may go private . Because they are really looking forward  to one of your next WIP's on your list

Some interesting opinions, one point I forgot too add was “I would just thank them for their time” after all the author may of spent a lot of time working on it even if it wasn't too good, sometimes appreciation can go along way.

I agree, there are different ways to give feedback its generally good to give feedback along with a fair opinion without sounding like a troll with it, i think it would help any author to listen to peoples feedback in the future.

That point is better but sometimes some indivduals would say "i dont care" and say what they want because it wouldnt bother them if stuff they didnt like became private.

I mostly thought it was something to do with the moderation on the board why there maybe not many comments in certain topics.

To be honest I have to admit I kinda fall under the category of “A lot of the times I don't want to give feedback I just want to download”. Because sometimes the creation is so good that its not really worth pointing out very minor flaws, most of the time I think that the creator would probably spot as they re-test the character.

I would be even more likely less inclined to post any feedback if the rules on feedback were too strict having said that sometimes if it really is a good character I think it probably would be acceptable to post things like “nice character” or “great release”.

People shouldn't worry about this here. I for one would rather see harsh feedback than these:

“Nice character +1”
“Downloading now”
“Will give feedback later”

Also, diversify the poll options. 

some people only comment on the aesthetics of a character without going into the coding.

Not really commenting on how this particular forum is being moderated, although maybe on other forums this might be the case idk.

Good Point, although some people generally post for the sake of it (or for encouragement) those options were purposely meant to be similar

i actually didnt want anyone to mention anything about the some of the voting options being so similar, it flaws some important points of the poll

i'm on spidermew with this one,simply because that's what i normally do
Test character-mention feedback(good and bad things,because everything except stuff made by oohwhap or similar has to have something good )
Just use common sense:don't type to others what you don't what to be said about yourself
