TMNT season 7
« on: November 10, 2008, 04:23:58 AM »

April now looks more like April.
The Turtles look slightly more like the 1980's cartoon version.

ACTUALLY....
I saw this just the past week-end
and I must say it's MUCH MUCH MUCH better then what has been done the last few years...

BUT

is still such dumbed down crap then what this series was to begin with, also half the time there eyes are whited-out
and half the time, THEY HAVE PUPILS
W
T
F?
 @^@

meh, better then what it HAS been, but still crap (but less crap!)
if there's anything remotly as good as 90's cartoon, it's this
even though the first few seasons were, FAR superior.

The Turtle power thing happened in Season 5, but their medallion things broke.
What you see in Season 7 is they're going in cyberspace. It's really more of a Ninja Turtles meets Tron type of thing.

They even parody light cycles in some scenes. I've watched a few episodes of S7 already on youtube. It's pretty good.

i still remember the old 90's TMNT show with good childhood memories because of one thing:Pizza and Cowabunga  :D
Turtles in space?
The first thing that comes up to my mind when i think of that is this:

Ironically,i don't remember that much of this ep in particular, but honestly after giving it a look,it was pretty awful
and since when there was a female turtle??

I had it on tape, basically the Turtles beat the Rangers mercilessly. All except the imo Red Ranger who barley managed to escape.

At the end they all teamed up to battle Astronema. As cheesy as it was it's actually a neat cross-over. Now if only they were the 90's Power Rangers that teamed up rather than the Spacey ones, and if only the Turtles wore their not so cheap movie costumes.

Now that would have been hot. ;)

Reading this made me cringe. Also they look like dorks wearing their helmets and bike gear.

the first season of the new Ninja Turtles was cool for like 5 episodes, it was gritty. then they just kept going and throwing in off the wall stuff like Shredder actually being a little Krang guy.

They only really did censorship in Season 6, 4kids pretty much left it alone the first 5 seasons.

I remember in the 5th season Undead Shredder made a cliche villain comment about raping Karai.

They never really gave heaven a name though.

Ugh. Here we go again. First off let me start by saying that I was a HUGE TMNT fan from the beginning (I was born in 1980 so you know what I mean...) But I have to say that after seeing what the show has come back as (starting with the FIRST new season of TMNT from what '03 I think?) I am VERY pleased. I've seen this argument time and again about the new vision of the Turtles vs the old 80's one and after awhile I finally decided to go back and watch some of the 80's stuff and compare. Sorry to say guys, but I don't recall why I loved the Turtles back then when I watched the old stuff. I mean sure, they were funny and cool but:

A. I fail to see the REAL difference in them in the 80's version (albeit I have to admit that I only watched ONE old ep before coming to these conclusions...so for what it's worth...) In the 80's version they all pretty much act the same as one another. It seemed that the whole point in the intro song was lost when it came to the actual show (again based on only ONE ep...so I may be wrong on this one).

B. There wasn't really much to the show save for a few eps containing cameos (i.e. Usagi Yojimbo's appearance in a few eps) in the 80's ver.

Now, I rethought this out and came to the conclusion that they show was AWSOME...when we were kids...this new version tends to be a little more entertaining to those that have moved on or at least started to, from stuff like Loony Tunes and stuff...don't get me wrong...I STILL love those old shows, but they don't compare to some of the stuff of today.

Now at the same time, a LOT of the stuff of today is CRAP. TMNT is not one of them IMHO.

Now, to the topic of censorship. I think most of you guys are old enough to know better by now on this topic. If you live in the states are are older and about 13 or 14 you should ALREADY know not to complain cause things seem shallow in our anime/cartoons. But, just in case you don't already know/get it let me spell it out once again: in the US of A--ANIME AND CARTOONS ARE NOT MEANT FOR US OLDER PEEPS! That means anyone over the again of, you guessed it: 13 or 14. Unfortunately, these shows (and since a LOT of the toons made here in the States are based off of, or are meant to be like anime, they are included) were NOT originally meant for just kids. We know this; hell THEY know this. But they just INSIST on trying to make us believe that it's WRONG to watch animated programming after a certain age. Hence the reason that all those companies that import anime to the States release the same products in UNCUT versions. So that those of us that are MATURE enough for the real deal can still see our favorite shows in their full glory. Unfortunately, this cannot be applied to US produced/created shows since they already are being seen in their full glory. I just hope that in the future the FCC loosens up some more...they've actually gotten a little more lenient on the companies as we are seeing more and more stuff retaining more of it's original content.

On the topic show at hand, I LOVE the action-packed Turtles as compared to the goofy lite-action version of the 80's...but to each his own...I can't tell you that your opinions are right or wrong cause they are just that. All I ask is that you look at if for what it is and not for what it USED to be. I think some of you can agree that as a stand alone show, the new TMNT is quite fine as is...

Sorry for the long-winded post, it's just that the censorship debate is REALLY getting old and so is using that as an excuse to call a show bad. If it's animated and released in the US you best believe it's gonna be highly edited and watered down (just look at what they do to the Power Rangers every season  ??? though I still watch  :-??)

P.S. While I'm at it, am I the only one that was surprised to see a show with this much violence being released on 4KIDSTV? I thought that was kinda weird as the FCC usually doesn't allow that much violence to shows in that block...especially when you look at the other shows the Turtles came with (i.e. Kirby, Sonic X, and Winks Club...though I guess WC was kinda violent in it's own right as well...)

Megabyte has a point.

Go back and watch the old shows. Anyone that has major beef with the '03 series is either one of two people:

1) holds a hell of alot of nostalgia to the old show. I mean really, out of the 9-10 seasons of the show, there are really only a handful of episodes that are really memorable, and most of those come from the first two seasons. When people think TMNT, it's more than the cartoon, it's the games, the movie, the whole obsession of the era.

2) watches all their "cartoons" in another language with subtitles.

TMNT IS NOT ANIME, so if you fall into category 2, it's not for "you people". There's never going to be an uncut, mature cartoon. It's designed for younger audiences, it always will be. And for a kids show, it's rather dark at points.

I still have offical TMNT action figure carrying case overstuff with a ton of figures, including the entire first line characters (the four, april, splinter, shredder, 2 foot, bebop, rocksteady, krang), the Turtle Van, and The '03 Battle Shell.

Anyone who enjoyed watching the old show should have no complains with this show except for that "Fast Forward" bull****, which in reality is more of a throwback to the old show if anything (cheesy jokes, sub-par plots, one shot epis, etc).

the original Eastman and Laird comic was actually pretty dark, but it was still funny. look it up, there's lots of blood and pizza.  the creators were never allowed to go as far as they wanted, this is especially true with the first two movies.

the problem with the franchise as a whole is it's just too freakin marketable and easy to toss into a 'kid-friendly' format.

Yeah I got that, just stating that about the topic in general. And I see that you feel the same way/understand just as I do on this gerneral topic, huh, G Lux? Well, going back to what I said about the more lenient FCC of late, what G said about the comic and what Negi said about the show being more "hardcore"...I'm pretty surprised at THIS little tidbit of what's to come next year @-):

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="
&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="
&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This is coming to either CW4Kids or 4Kids TV in Feb I think /:O! Shocker for me! This looks WAY left field compared to what they BOTH currently show, and I've been wishing for YEARS to have just ONE of the other Kamen Rider shows to make it stateside...even if it had to be in movie format and dubbed (I think I would have preferred it that way 8=|).

Dude, comics in general rarely ever go that far with animated renditions, and I need not name examples, otherwise this would be a page long post.

That's what happens when popular items. the few exceptions to that rule that I can think of is Spawn and Heavy Metal, and most people barely remember either.

Ohhhhh, ok. I thought that didn't make sense as that was WAY to violent for either of the 2 stations I listed. That was the point of the e-motes I used LOL. Ok, cause what I said was what was on that vid page on Youtube...
