need help playing midi files

I have used several plug ins and such and I still can't get my mugen to play midi's. I have the EVE screenpack and I have the DJ Van plug in and still no good.

Can anyone help me?

Ok, I'm not sure you can actually play MIDI in MUGEN but here's someting you can try The Earthbender; click here and download the following two files:

  *plugins (mugen sound fix part 1).zip

  *mugen sound fix part 2.cfg

Don't forget to read the intructions!


If that doesn't work converting MIDI to an audio file that MUGEN efficiently supports and recognize would be in your best interest.

You see, The MIDI uses a sequence with some variation banks/GS instruments that you'd probably only hear on a synth that supports them. Which means that unless you can find a way to get MUGEN to recognize these bank changes you're not going to be able to play MIDI files. MUGEN doesn't support the bank messages on the MIDI, so if you try to play it, it probably wouldn't work or it will just be defaulting to their standard GM instrument equivalents.

yes but it changes the sound of the midi.
