My Aunt just died earlier this morning

Well My Aunt just died earlier this morning from a cancerous brain tumor. The really crappy thing about it is I did not get to talk to her once in the past month since she got diagnosed. My family would not let me wish her well or let me talk to her once. So I never get to tell her how much I loved her or to just talk. The crappiest part about that is she wanted to talk to me so bad    So im really sad. I told my grandfather I wanted to come down to where she lived (Houston) and pay my respects when it was time. My grandfather is shook up about it too and didnt really wanna hear that. I just simply told him "when and if you go down to houston I wanna go" Do you think I should have waited a day or so before I said that? Because now I think I made him feel worse..  Hope I didnt.

Well you have to understand that your grandfather lost one of his children. He raised her since she was born. I'm not a father, but I believe this is one of those things where you have to be a parent to understand how this feels. A lot of parents would rather die before their children because their children have a longer life ahead of them.
My mom hasn't been the best mother in the world, but she's still a good mother because she worries about me. If one day I just up and died, I don't know what she'd do. After my father died she was mourning for nearly a year.

You're grandfather needs time to mourn over your aunts death. By the sound of things, everyone in your family does.

I'm very very sorry to hear you lost your aunt, my sincere condolences go out to you and your whole family. I know how you feel, I just recently lost a friend and it's not easy to lose anyone, but as long as you keep them within your heart and never forget them, they will live forever. Life can seem cruel, but death is a part of life and we all eventually leave this world at some point. All we can do is live our lives to the fullest for them and ourselves and never forget those we have lost and to be strong.

Again thanks guys for the positive responses. Im doing better then I was earlier today. Im trying to keep myself as cheered up as possible. But me and my mom talked it over and when my grandfather decides to go to houston for the funeral im heading there too. Even if I have to get a rental car with my mom or something. But again thanks guys reading your posts has really cheered me up and made things easier.

It's weird that your parents wouldn't let you see her, maybe they couldn't handle the fact that she would be leaving soon. And yes, maybe you should have waited a few days to ask your grandfather, since such a horrible event took place. Not that it was bad I don't think, but he's most likely feeling uncontrollably devastated.

Sorry that you had to lose a member of your family, this is the most terrifying thing to have to experience in life, just knowing that you will never get to see them again; the feeling is just too unimaginable to bear.

Then, you might get this nostalgic feeling that flows through your mind of some random good days when everything was okay and it ends up making you feel empty inside like the world is coming to an end. It's really horrible.

My condolences to you and your family even though it isn't enough, really. And I hope you feel better and happy again eventually. Sorry. u__u!
