One of the reasons why i wanted to bring this to the surface now, unlike with Punisher where I brought his progress two the world two months after building once to find myself subjected to all the changes you guys have supplied me with in the past. It's a slow rolling process, but i'm patenting my spriting around hulk/maxx.

Long story made short... When Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarland and the bunch left Marvel to start their own comic company, one of the really big hits besides Spawn was the Maxx by Sam Keith. Once the story ended though, the comic ended which is why newer readers know so little about him.

He is on my top 10 of all time!

Just noticed something, in your hardpunch animation there, thers a bit of background in a couple of the frames.
Looks like you have a second shade of pink in your pall there.

When i first saw the black sillohette (sp?) of it in apocs sig, i thought it might have been killspree, a Killspree wip would own.

Call me lazy but when I put the animations togther I only magic wand and align, I don't take time to remove colors such as the pinks the wand can't touch. It's the active transparency in game so it won't be like that in the end. Just a visual perspective of my concept if you will... Still lazy non the less.

@ zarro Yes he is that big . Sam Keith drew all his characters real " bulky " Even when he drew Wolverine . That was his art style . I thought it looked pretty cool .

Guess it's a difference of opinion then, 'cause to me he never looked as big as Hulk. He didn't stand huge above everyone else, though he was always considerably bigger (compared to humans). He was definitely bulky and big, but not in height. Either way, the sprites look great so it's no big deal to me.

Check out the animated series, or read the series its very complex to explain.

This is great WIP, I was a big fan, and theres gotta be an Izz attack. Id love to see a Marvel vs Image game.

The only gripe I ever has was that he took a few shots at Neil Gaimans Sandman (morpheus) in the series, musta been jealousy of Darlene on Rosanne always sporting Morpheus shirts. Sandman was a lot more underground, and groundbreaking than the Maxx.

Still dig the Maxx though, and this is a very origional idea.

He will do anything to protect the blond girl . The Maxx is male . Like alex said it's a very hard story to explain . He has the head dress ( hair ) when he goes into the other world . The story is deep & twisted , half the time the veiwer / reader doesn't no what world is real .

QFT. Hell, half the time The Maxx doesn't even know which world is real (or even which one he's in at times).

Awesome choice for yet another WIP from you, apoc! It's great to see one of the greatest characters from outside Marvel & DC make his way into MUGEN. I personally think Hulk makes a great base for Maxx. For those of you who think he's too big, you can always scale him down in the CNS file once he's released....

Sprites look great so far, but I do think his face could use a little tweaking (I know, I know, you're gonna hate me for this). It's just that he looks like he's smiling... Maxx always looks like he's pissed off because of how his teeth are. I think the teeth need to jut out bit further from his face, and curve down a bit where they meet the jaw. Probably easier said than done, but I think he'll be perfect after that.

Good luck with this project! I'll be keeping a close eye on this one!

No hate. Thats what this is here for. I'd rather make these adjustments known and corrected now then 500+ sprites later. I don't know how your spriting skills are but if you can give me something to work off of (even a good quality picture) that shows the defining lines to the shape of his mask better, I'd be sure to work from it.

I was actually going to try my hand at re-spriting his head for you tonight. Failing that, I'm sure I could dig up some other images showing the shape of his face a bit better.

Now if only my Maxx episodes weren't on VHS. I don't have a player to watch them on anymore!  :'(

EDIT:

Here's what I've come up with for your sprite. I think I over-did the teeth just a tad, but it works for what I'm trying to show you.

I actually re-did most of the head. I slimmed down the skull a bit, and made it blend more into the shoulders (beefed up his shoulder muscles, too. Also, made his eyes a bit squintier and angrier, and changed the color to white like in the comics. He's got a pretty prominent brow, which I tried to add in.

i think the new version looks better now because it looks more like the original. look at the images I_Burner posted
