So, my roommate just got home from wherever the hell about a half hour ago and tells me he's breaking the lease and moving back in with his parents at the beginning of August. That leaves me 5 days to find a new roommate or move back in with my parents and quit my job in the process. His "excuse" is that he's not saving as much has he planned for the trip back to Japan next year, so instead of leaving in December like he planned, he's jumping ship early.

I have offically been f***ed in the @$$.

Nope, legally he can just break contract, lose the 200 deposit and be done with it. Rent is due on Thursday for July so once he pays that, if he leaves before August 1, that's it.

, yeah. Truth be told, I'm come to realize that he has this attitude that's very do-for-self, even his family's called him on it. Not going into details cause there's no need, but I feel like he doesn't want to be around me, so I make it easy for him by avoiding him. So he's doing-for-self by moving out. Thing is, his parent's house is walking distance from here, my family is an hour drive away across about 6 cities and my job doesn't pay enough to warrent me driving back and forth that far, so that means I gotta quit.

well my sister left a houston apartment and she had to pay for it even tho we lived in austin

i also think he has to paid for breaking the lease. the apartment owner might not care and just keep the 200 deposit but you can legally can take your roommate to small claims court for breach of contract. im telling you from experince. my friend got taken to court and lost when he walked away from his girlfriends apartment lease and she won for breach of contract.
