How To Add Characters To Your Mugen

okay first off what u want to do is go dload mugen from the wesite

okay now that u have that extract it to your desktop asfter that open it and you will see the char,stages, and sound folder the character and stages folder is for putting your characters and stages in... characters go in the char folder,... and stages go in the stages folder a pic ofr example



now after you download your characters move them to your char folder and extract them inside your char folder so it should look like this



inside the kfm folder is the character....those file inside his folder is wat makes him work these files are found in all characters without these files the character wont run



okay now after you have dloaded your characters and made sure they are together open your data folder



and inside your data folder you will find the select.def file it is where you add your characters and stages in



now this is how to put the characters in mugen you open up your select.def file

now see where it say kfm that where u put your characters anmes in that area so u copy the name of your characters folder and paste where u see kfm



and thats it open your mugen and your character should be there btw take the off of your
(, stages/kfm.def) character

i added some characters but some ( most of them ) doesnt seem to work and doesnt even appear on selection page ... what do i do ? i heard some new mugen werent able to add some characters ? if so well could u give me a link to were i could get a mugen to add all character? thanks

Check these 2 things:

1) The folder name and the .def file name must be the same

2) It should be folder/files, not folder/folder/files

This is where I always went wrong

what ya have to do is when you find a character from off this site and any otherone, before you add them to your mugen , go inside the file and look for its .def file, copy that and then go back ( only go back once) and paste it to the folder containing all the files ( note: some character folders come with like 2 folders before you get to the real folder) Now depending on how many folders are in the whole character, take just the one you pasted and drag it into you character folder ( then check inside to make sure there is a Copy of the def file inside the folder) then right click the file, hit rename, ( but dont rename it) then click the highlight of the folder and copy it,  go into your data folder, go into the select .def
and then paste you character where it says insert character here where KFM is ........and wooooolah! well this is how i do it and i been doing it for years. works like a charm man. good luck homie and welcome to MUGEN

Also with stages. if a stage crashes most of the time its this


"\" if u see the line like that in a stage then thats wrong and your mugen will crash

so go in the stage def file and make like This: "/" so
it can look like this below:

years ago i dunno how many stages i deleted thinkin they were jacked up when they really werent

I don't use WinMugen. I only use MugenWave from Nino which is handy. WinMugen doesn't work for me.

You need to add kfm to the chars folder, then go to data, then select.def and you should be putting his name at the top (not in the stages section like you did).

Also note that the screen pack in question has multiple folders, each with a different select.def, depending on what type of layout you want to use, make sure you're using the right select.def file.
