Death Note worked too, Pokémon could work like a dream too, no Anime characters needed, just the factions, CGI Pokémon, a Kid trainer, Team Rocket, it's easy.

Uuuh...It's being made by the Wachowski brothers...You did know they have a thing for the green color did ya? Besides, The Anime was extremely cheesy and cheap, This should look cheesy, cartoony and cheap in a modern way...
