Mugen....old times...do you remember?
« on: March 16, 2008, 04:08:36 PM »
well..I think not all people knows or plays mugen since 2000...
but can you tell something about the old times..(for you)?
from me, I remember when I know mugen in 2000(I remember when I did not have pc, the Andrea Shroeder's pages, and play a lot in 2001..
Many wares like Mugenenciclopedia,Italian pages....downloading a cheap Mk3subzero who can use MANY MANY ice clones in screen..
and many people said "Hey, that, Ryu against DBZ chars!! @-)"
or .."hey where are the clothes of that Mai?"..hehehe
..downloading betas...I remember a MVC Jill bad created(only 3 sprites , the rest was repeated sprites)!
and you..?

I first learned about mugen in January 2007.I remembered getting random chars I didn't know.I was out looking for chars that didn't even exist.I can remember when the Music would keep messing up and How I was stuck with the basic screenpack for months until I finally learned how to change screenpacks. And boy those were the days. It's only been a year since I learned about mugen.

Yo preach!! Don't worry cuz I saw mugen for the first time in 2001, but we could get the thing running so we left it alone LOL!! But when I got my own crib in 2k5, I jumped in officially and I've been on this digital crack ever since.....

I found out about mugen in late 2000 when a buddy of mine told me of this crazy game where capcom characters battled with snk and more. (I hadn't really got into the cvs series yet) I didn't believe it until I got a look at it. The first two chars I saw were the evil duo, I was sold. I really didn't pay much mind to the community in the begining beyond who made what char. And I remember getting most of my original collection through street mugen. I didn't have a controller on my crude pc, so I mostly enjoyed watching ai "dogfights" as we called them during breaks in studio sessions. For the longest Mb-02 reigned supreme occassionally getting dethroned by one of the evil duo.

I got into Mugen late in 1999(or early 2000, not sure), I played this DBZ vs Capcom game. I remember it cause this Akuma had a crazy 146 hit super (it was awesome...if somebody knows where to get it let me know!). Been following it since. Finally in 2001 I started to learn how to code a little, then I just forgot all about it. Got back into it in 2005, relearned some stuff...and well...here I am. I used to go by A.I. on this forum if anyone remembers.

I think we all do that, discover MUGEN, leave it after a bit and then return years later, unless your name is PotS, KFM or Valodim. I've been around since 1999. I used DOS MUGEN until I discovered a windows based MUGEN engine. Creating wasn't an option then because I was young and the tools back then were way too complicated for me to use. I always had a desire to do something, so I got into sprite editing (since I was always good at art anyway) and had a couple edits floating around back in the day. I got back into MUGEN in 2005 watching my younger brother sprite things and post them at the Warmachine Madness forum. Joined Infinity, been around and involved ever since. I was around when people like Micromor were still sprite editors and Cabbit were regular forum posters. Those were the days.

Knew about it since late 06, but didn't get into it until just about a year ago (as in Feb/Mar 07).
Punctuation and capitalization can make the difference between "I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse," and, "I helped my uncle jack off a horse."

Most newer stuff sucks, though.

I didn't discover Mugen until 2006. About a month later, I started my first WIP, the White Queen from the X-Men arcade, and began plotting out my first sprite edit WIP, WereGarurumon. So, I'm relativley still new to the creating medium, but it's safe to say I enjoy constructing my favorite characters, particurally those projects that another person may or may not take up.

I had always wanted some kind of "create your own fighting game" where characters from across many different genres could be made, and Mugen was certainly it. :)

Heard of mugen in 2005 after 1st seeing SF vs MK flash vids and reading a reference to it by Proxicide, but when I searched for it online I came across a high-end computer that's used for programming, so I thought mugen was too expensive for me . After showing my co-workers the flash vids in early 2006, I decided to google it and finally stumbled upon the actual program. From there, it was gaming heaven, just collecting characters, stages, and browsing forums and sites.

Joined up with Infinity in April of 2006, and became active as time went on with searching for rares to reporting news. And here I am today, still mugening.

I remember pwning Marco Rodriguez with Cyber Akuma only using his strong punch! It was on late 1999, I believe. But I just got into MUGEN on 2006, where I started to mount my MUGEN officially.

First time i saw Mugen was about 2000-2001 i found it on some site with some H pics lol and it had characters that were all H orientated. Then i stopped playing it and picked it up around early 2007. Now im trying to create the best Shin lv 2 akuma i can.

I remember when i first discovered mugen it was like in 2000, i went over to a friends house and he said "hey look at this game ive been creating." He opened up the game and it was mugen, at first i believed that he built it cause one he was really smart and two well he had enough time to do all that stuff, from there ive been bugging him for a copy of the game and he said that he couldnt give me one for some stupid reason. Later on i found out what the whole thing was about and ive been hooked from there. I feel like an idiot for telling this story but i thought that everyone could use a good laugh on this early morning.

I am pretty new to mugen also . Found out about it a year ago . The early times were bad for me . I knew someone that had a buddy of his put it on his Xbox . He kind of did the nah nah nah nah thing . " I have it & you can't " I had to get this thing . So I searched the net & finally found it . It took me about a month of messing with the files every night until I finally got the thing running . Guess what I have no characters & that guy seemed to have them all . Including Thor , which he told me was a character designed by Capcom for MVC3 & the programmer was mad that they never made the game so he released him . He said he knew a guy at Capcom & that's how he got him .

Of course later on I found all of what this guy was telling me to be lies & I found most of the characters I was looking for . Until my quest , or obsession came about .

I had a terrible small batman with no moves . Bats is one of my favorite characters & I heard a good one that looked MVC existed . This is when I started to find out about the foolish politics in the communnity . I found that batman's site , but the character had been removed off the net by the creator due to someone " stealing it ' & using it for something else . I really didn't understand any of that at the time , but I knew I had to find that batman . So i pretty much scoured the internet every night for about 8 hours . This went on for months & it was hell . Finally after probably 6 months of searching , I discovered a few videos of him on youtube . So I commented on the vids & PMed people . Everyone wanted to trade . Which I hadn't been in mugen that long so I had none of the " rare " stuff they wanted . Finally some guy seen my comment in someone's vid & he PMed me a link where he uploaded him . What a great burden I felt was lifted off my shoulders . I felt like I just found the ark of the covenant .

So the early times for me were pretty bad .

Eternaga isn't going to be coming back, due to some things that are a bit complicated and controversial that I don't want to talk about. If you want to see what Eternaga has been up to, his new site is http://before3d.com
