Disappearing Files...
« on: March 07, 2008, 09:34:03 PM »
Has this happened to you...???

You download a character like Joseph Jotaro FOR EXAMPLE You play with him for a while in Mugen and its all good. A week later you go back and pick Jotaro again, and your Mugen Freezes and crashes. You check his folder and his Windows command script is MISSING!! GONE!!

Pretty soon, you find out that more and more characters have their windows command scripts missing!!!  :o

This happen to anyone else?? Excuse me while I go, Download some Characters AGAIN!!!  ~X(

That's happened to my Amingo twice! I thought I was the only one who had Mugen gremlins eating my files.

sound's maybe like it's anti-virus software deleting/quarantining unrecognized files. I'm not sure if i have ever encountered a .cmd file (not mugen related) that actually helped windows in some way.

I had it happen in my first week of Mugen. It's not the "esc" button, it's system restore or virus services that removes it. Make sure your mugen content is backed up constantly. I can't say this enough, back up your stuff!

note that closing mugen from the red window close icon might corrupt your command file as well.

OK, but what about when mugen freezes and dosnt exit on its own? More times Ive had that happen and I had to "X" outta mugen. I dont have that problem being that I switched from CFEM but it still happens on occasion...

This happened to me before. Luckily I thought ahead, and kept the rar/zip files of each character.

Ah, I understand now. I've actually never had this happen to my files, and I think I know why. The comp I use for the internet is a family one, and I create and use Mugen on my personal computer, which does not have the internet or antiviral software. Thus, it doesn't happen.

l always back up my work just in case (White Queen's .cmd corrupted the day planned of release due to a Fighter Factory glitch, and I spent a day reconstructing it).

while i'm working on character's with ff sometimes i go to test what ive done by hitting the launch mugen icon (in ff). Mugen will sometimes lock up my cpu causing me to turn power off then back on. I have ended up with messed up sff files, as well as erased cmd & cns files. Literally losing an entire character this way, so back up your files just incase. Never had this problem with linux mugen though, maybe the hack of mugen that is winmugen created this problem?
