portrait making for gimp?

hey is there a tut around here somewhere? if so can sum1 link me to it? all i see are tuts for photoshop. i believe it's different in gimp. im really having a hard time editing the palette for gimp can sum1 teach me a trick or two? thanks have a nice day!

you cant actualy cant edit the pallets with gimp, you have to use fighter factory to edit the palette, but you can make it 256 colors

does this mean i can't make portraits with GIMP? aww all those wasted time trying to find out how to do it on gimp.  ???

You can make protrates on the gimp, you just have to edit the pal when your done and after its saved in 256 colors as a pcx in fighter factory, gimp is just for editing the picture, now if your trying to recolor an image using gimp, that you'll have to do manualy using the paintcan .....

hmm i think i see what you mean after im satisfied with editing the portrait on gimp then i edit it's palette on ff? now why ddnt i think about it. thanks a lot for helping imma try it out. ;)
