Avengers Infinity War news: The Collector returnsThe epic Marvel superhero movie has kicked off filming in both Scotland and Atlanta, George this month.
Avengers: Infinity War is set to boast an amazing 67 Marvel characters across a £400 million two-part film.
Now the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe character has been confirmed for the movie, who will no doubt play a crucial role.
Puerto Rican actor del Toro has been spotted in Atlanta’s Criminal Records, after a selfie was shared from the store’s Instagram.
The 49-year-old plays The Collector, having already appeared in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World and 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy – and will no doubt play an important role in Avengers Infinity War.
Also known as Taneleer Tivan, The Collector holds the largest collection of interstellar fauna, relies and species in the galaxy, according to the MCU Wiki.
He is located on the Knowhere port installation, as last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy.
In Thor: The Dark World, two Asgardians – Sif and Volstagg – gave him the Aether (Reality Stone) for safe keeping since another Infinity gem, the Tesseract (Space Stone) was already on Asgard.
A recent extras casting call for Avengers Infinity War suggests Thanos, who will obtain all the Infinity Stones in the new movie, will wipe out the planet as he attempts to obtain the gem.
Next the Guardians of the Galaxy brought The Collector the Orb, after he hired Gamora, Thanos’ estranged daughter, to obtain it for him.
The Orb contained the Power Stone, which Tivan opened as he explained to the Guardians the history of the Infinity Stones.
However his slave Carina attempted to use the gem to escape her bondage, only to be killed by its power.
The Guardians managed to escape with the Orb, which they used to defeat Ronan the Accuser – before handing the stone over to Nova Corps on Xander for safe keep.
With all this taken into account and news that Josh Brolin’s villainous Thanos will be the main character in Avengers Infinity War, it’s very likely fans we see The Collector go face-to-face with him.
Presumably the first of the two movies will show how Thanos obtains the Infinity Stones – perhaps with a scene showing him breaking into Tivan’s collection on Knowhere.
However with four new films to go before it’s 2018 release, it’s likely he will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 this April.
And, who knows, maybe the Aether will be moved from his collection then.
