change anim type trigger Question
« on: April 29, 2014, 09:35:01 PM »
Im confused on the Value part of these kind of codes simply because i saw in the same character im studying to use the codes of it the Value changes instead of being the same as its anim number.

[state a]
type = changeanim
triggerall = anim != 4500 <-----This is animation of the character obviously
trigger1 = root,anim = 5000
trigger2 = root,anim = 5001
trigger3 = root,anim = 5002
value = 4500

But do understand below the 4500 state def number is the same as its anim number in this situation

(click to show/hide)

why im confused? because this code method below. This situation below isnt the same as the above. The Value isnt a state def at all. its related to only being the action number of the animation in the AIR file

Code set B:

[state a]
type = changeanim
trigger1 = anim = 4502
value = 4503<------This number isnt a state Def at all its the number of the animation. I REPEAT, this is not a state def number. its an animation number. the creator coded it that way for some reason.

so between both codes, would the Value be the same as its Anim? or it depends on how the Changeanim is set up?

I want to use this method now since i see majorly since today it will help me move forward on what im working on but i want to clearly understand it more so i can make the extensions of it i need.

Thanks in advance

State a is helper related because you have redirects to the root (player). In that example if you aren't in animation 4500 while the root is in ANY of the next 3 animations you should change to anim 4500

In the spoiler that is the original anim set, there may be other parts within the character that force the helper out of anim 4500 and into something else.

That really doesn't matter. There is no reason other than organisation to use the anim number as the stateno. Reuse it wherever you like. It doesn't matter if you need an anim that doesn't match the state, use it. Nothing to stop you.

Your code set B is slightly weird and i assume there would be more to it inside the actual code as doing change anim to x if anim = y means y doesn't play. Beside the point, code is perfectly valid.

Ok i see what you mean

Yeah there was more to that code but i was just using it as an example of the two changeanim type trigger codes being the same but used differently.

here it is entirely:

(click to show/hide)

I was focusing on the Value use which confused me a bit. I thought both had to relate to state defs only but im seeing now you can put a change anim number in the Value= also. Last night i just followed the same thing for my character and the value worked as the animation number which was a single custom frame action on purpose

But anyway youve answered my question. Things been moving better since yesterday

Oh i see, it gets to that state from other states and doesn't have an anim set by default so it changes based on what anim WAS playing before it got there. Looks like it's for gethits in some way shape or form
