Jack Turner, Infinite Style (original by Andre Lopes)
« on: April 11, 2011, 02:35:10 AM »
Hey folks, how have ya been?  I just finished polishing up my WIP, which is basically Andre Lopes' Jack Turner turned into a style similar to the one Infinite uses.  Speaking of whom, he has provided a good amount of help, by making palettes, hyper portraits, and AI, the latter of which is unlisted in the readme.  I forgot, alright?

*Note:  The above is actually an SDM, and you need less than 1/3rd life to use it.

Anyhow, I hope you guys enjoy him, and please report any issues you might find.

He has a bug in the fireball hyper where he shoots 3 Haoshokokens. All of them don't hit.

And i noticed you didn't add shake to your attacks. I dont kno if that is a personal thing as to why you didn't or what. I know Infinite has it in his edits, so its up to you or not to add them in there if you want to.

I must say, Luigi, you have been doing your homework. I stand corrected, you do know what your doing. He has awesome sprites, sounds and the fx are tight!
I always wanted a Jack Turner that played this way, and now I have one. You did an outstanding job.

Ok now this is the part where u get mad at my feedback ( I mean personal preference) hahaha  :D.... Joking!! (Makes fun of myself) I tried him out and that was the only thing I saw in him with the fireballs that is. And this will be my only time posting about it. I was wrong about you, you do have some skills. Your very nick picky, but you know what your doing.  :) That's a good thing, though. Keep up the good work!

That's part of the game play.  It's a risky attack that is unguardable, should they succeed.  However, you can always crouch to avoid them, since it's so high up and it's rather small.  The same logic goes for the level 1 and 2 versions.

Unless you mean that the attacks won't hit, period (which I doubt).  Then I need to look into it.

My bad, I thought that was just in Vyn's Terry, so I left them out for the time being.  I'll put them later when I (or others) find other bugs that need to be addressed.

Thanks.  The effects for the Haoh Shokoken was from PotS and dashing effects were from Vyn, so they should get the credit.  All I did was make them be able to be adjusted in the ACT files.  The other effects which I edited in GIMP don't nearly as nice as those, since I don't know how to use PSP that well, so they'll likely clash.

Great job Luigi, I love what you did with Jack.

Thank you for your help!

He's from SNK, specifically Art of Fighting 2, which is arguably his last appearance, ever.

And that would probably mark the end of my topic.  Redundant replies that only consist of smilies.   :-??

SNK. AOF/Art of Fighting is part of the KOF series.

I hate redundant replies, they're the proverbial nail to the coffin (I'm looking at you, Beto and Lars).  But this isn't, so please don't merge.

BUMP.  Jack updated with envshake, new effects, and can now chain his specials into his supers.  Please check the first post.

How about AOF2 Mickey...? That would be interesting... I'm not trying to throw hints, whether you do it or not is entirely on you... Just saying. It's outside the box though...

Oh man, Skeletor.  You just gave me an excuse to upload the latest (private, until now) version.   :D

As for Mickey, who made one?  If more than one person made him, perhaps you can point me where I can find him and see what I can do.

With that, check the first post for the newest version!

hey maybe you could rip the sprites or have someone do it for ya and then you can pretty much lay full claim on him man. that is definetly a really cool thing , then its all Luigi's unless someone already made one and you just edit his work but heck if its available opensource sprite ripped pack...lay claim to that dude fully man.

By far, editing an existing character is much easier.  Heck, I never made a legitimate character from scratch!  It might be a fun experience, since I prefer to go my own way with it than follow the source.  I mean, why do you need a source accurate version when you can just download the game itself?

Of course, different people have different strokes.  It makes sense for a character to have the same feel as they did in the source, while also doing some new stuff along the way.

oh i know what ya mean bro. i mean just use his sprites if there is no Mickey available. please def dont make him source accurate! lol . if someone is an out the box thinker and creator then def make em OUT THE BOX. ya know. i rather use opensource sprites rather then edit but mostly because right now the project i am doing there is no characters to edit from. they are kinda mostly ground up sprite editing and then ground up coding. much harder but very doable.

so def if you can find a version already done, then darn sure edit him really good. but if none around, hey get rippin  and do the hard way if ya have to . lol  but its really fun spriting and its work as well. but will def come out good since you know coding well enough to make em come alive. so you find an already made Mickey you should be great to go man.

Heh, I don't think I'll go overboard with making a character from a game I haven't played yet, except maybe Mario fron Dong Dong Never Die, and even he will be a lol-conversion, and what I'll dub "My first Akuma".

Err, yeah.  I couldn't find any AoF2 sprite rips.  Not even Kong, instead, he has AoF3 sprites.

Well Luigi, the only AOF2 Mickey I know of is the one by Fred, and I have him... Mickey's one of those over looked characters that get very little respect in my book, but he could be nice given the right attention...

As for your Jack Turner, I must say, I'm impressed! However, the three-shot fire ball hyper does have a bug... Also, why don't you bring down his height a bit. It worked well in AOF2 cause all the characters were HUGE... But compared to regular sized characters, he's a bit too dam BIG to say the least... Bring him down to about .90 over .90 That works well with him. That way he looks normal enough, while at the same time, he's still just a bit larger than the other characters... Great work!!  ::salute::

Interesting, know where I can get him from?

Let me guess, the three shot fireball doesn't shoot all the time?  I've said it once and I'll say it again.  The move is supposed to work like that.   o.O#

Yeah, I kinda knew he was a bit large for other characters, and .9,.9 does look a little good on him.  However, I am a bit lazy to do all the reorganizing and stuff, but maybe the future will hold something neat in the future.   :D
