Serious Sam 3: BFE
« on: September 29, 2011, 07:05:41 PM »
As a fan of old school FPS games, as well as the original Serious Sam titles, what I see from this game pleases me greatly.  Sure, they added in a few modern things like iron sights and sprinting, but it looks like it works out quite well.  To anyone unfamiliar with this series, it's totally different from things like CoD and BF.

From what I've heard this is some pretty outdated gameplay, so I'm hoping the final product looks much more polished out with a few more enemies here and there.

Yeah, a lot of people say that.  I'm just glad Croteam remembers what made their first two Serious Sam games great.

Well, the series didn't always the have cartoon look/feel.  That style appeared when Serious Sam for Xbox was released. It stuck on for the next few games afterwards.  I guess Croteam figured it was getting too ridiculous (especially in SS2..) and dropped it for new the game and the HD remakes.

Just thought it'd be interesting to see just how much a simplistic character design and overall art of the games changed over the years.

As a fps gamer since the 90's and a real serious sam fan, I can tell I'm going to enjoy this game just as much as the rest of croteams games. Now if we can get a crossover with Duke Nukem and Serious Sam I could die happy.

New preview from IGN.

This game just gets better and better looking.  Despite the guy playing being pretty damn reckless, he shows off a lot of new things in the game.

This is a throw back to older fps games (games I grew up with). You better learn how to play without regenerative health or you will die.

Yup, I just wanna see someone who knows how SS is meant to be played doing one of these previews.  It's pretty dissapointing seeing this game be previewed by people who don't even try; he played on easy and still died.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Yourself!
Serious Sam is the only game that can compete with Duke Nuken in the witty and hilarious quote department, so I have high hopes.

Another preview, this time from Gamespot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYwXIegYSqM&feature=related#

Didn't really enjoy this one as much, but it does show a new stage and a couple melee attacks the other videos didn't show.

Oh, and (almost) all of the weapons in the game can be seen here.  (The Sirian Mutilator is missing from the list)
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/10/the-weapons-of-serious-sam-3-bfe-all-of-them.ars

I almost forgot to mention, there's also this.

Looks pretty interesting for an RPG and it's only gonna be 5 bucks.  I'll definitely get it.
(I wish this guy would preview BFE instead of the IGN and Gamespot guys..)

Bump because it's out, it's awesome, and there's been a bunch of new trailers since I last posted in this topic.
