Well lets not forget how everyone griped about Heath Ledger.

I'll go out on a limb and tell you the truth. The origional Crow movie was crap compared to the comic. It made PC changes, and plotline changes that were pointless.

When I watch it a lot of times I roll my eyes at some of the campiness, and it's attemps at subtle humor. Even making Eric a Rock Star, and having him play guitar on rooftops seemed totally interjected in to play to 90's grunge dorks.

Not to mention making Sarah into this big character that was 2 pages in the comic, and the cheesey touching moments with her and the Crow that made me shake my head.

Eric was Brutal 99% of the time. He kissed Sarah, on the head, and pet the cat, and allowed funboy to commit suicide. Those were the only compassionate moments, and they were short, not plot devices.

However I still wouldnt have picked this guy to play Eric, but for me the jury's out. The fact that Nic Cave is writing a script that more closesly follows the comic is what myself, and a lot of other Crow fans want.

No disrespect to Brandon Lee, but while his fate was tragic, and I admired his performance, the comic holds a MUCH bigger place in my heart than his career.

People too often have raised the man above the story, and i dont think thats fair. The real Crow needs done, and it shhouldnt be off limits because of Brandons tradgedy.

Again they couldve chosen better, but I have to see more b4 a pan this attempt.

All im saying is it better be clever. I griped at Christian bale at first till i saw batman begins. Ledger, i gave a chance because i saw how clever they wrote the script for bale and how they had him play his role. Personally i thought the dude would suck because last flick i remembered him doing was American psycho. Then a friend of mine let me hold the dvd Equalibrium. The Action he did in that movie made me raise n eyebrow and become curious.

The books or comics are always going to be better than any movie hands down. The movie always leaves out a lot of great material that the book may have had. But then again it takes a great director and a great writer of the movie to over shadow anything great the book has that the movie left out.

Brandon Lee (at the time and that era) did a great job. I was a teenager so it was cool to me. Later down the line YES they could have found a better actor for the role of crow. I was a fan of the Crow also but not Hardcore like i was of spawn which could have been waaaay better. Brandons career sad to say it, but it wasnt great. his persona at the time just happen to fit Eric Draven just right. Just like Michael Keaton fit batman for its time. I look at it that way.

This actor they have here is pretty good (loved em in A Team) but him as the crow i dont see how thats gonna go down. Unless he has another side of him (very dark) in acting that he can snap into, that i havent seen yet to convince me. Pretty much Just like ledger did. So again i say it better be just as clever how batman begins was and dark knight was. i truely hope so

Believe me I am not happy with this choice, but I am not ready to declare the origional a masterpiece, because it wasnt.

Yeah comic movies are never as good, but they did a little more than just alter it, they pretty mutch butchered the story which is a little more sacred than other comic stories because it's an artistic masterpiece. It should have been dead on like Sin City. Ideally Id like it done that way since Obarr was heavilly influenced by Frank Miller.

If the new version is as close as Batman begins, or Spiderman I'll be happy. But yeah this guy had better ani up to be the Crow. I hope theres something there I am not seeing. I know the writer very well and trust him, this is just a shocker considering how much else has been done right on the remake up till now.

Yeah i can totally agree with you on that Alex. Back then it wasnt much room for production. i think even sin city would have been bland as hell & tanked at that time lol. Thank god it was chosen at this age to be made. Its now one of my favorites 8). Im curious about how the sequel will be which ive read is in the works some how :(|)
