Looks like the demo was taken down due to "copyright infringement" and is now considered illegal.

Good lord dude, it's stuff like this that puts SegaSonic to shame. When the fan community can put out better Sonic games than SEGA can, why doesn't SEGA just reach out to the fan community to do Sonic stuff instead? It wouldn't be that hard. It'd be like contracted work, game companies do it all the time.

i definetly agree with that. That can even maybe be said with MUGEN. People come together and do solid projects outside the scope of the traditional mugen projects that are done. I like the megaman 8bit project , its different in scope. something very unique  and i see alot of the community really pitching in all sorts of ideas. Fans if they did that even moreso and game companies really paid more attention to the very creativeness alot of people possess. Fan games could very well become a leading force in the game community as a whole and provide companies with an adundance of resources. We are the ones buying their games, playing their games , so i would figure , where else to get fresh ideas from. THE FANS.

Agreed, for great justice!

I heard that Yuji Naka himself said that this particular fangame is better than the real Sonic 4. When a game industry rep acknowledges that a fan remake of your game is better than it, you know that you're not doing a very good job.
Mission complete!

Exactly, its a perfect way to find great employees for the company. When you have fans making better games than the current company project (like Sonic Fan Remix compared to Sonic 4), Lets be honest the graphics and details in this demo makes the graphics in Sonic 4 look washed up. This would be a perfect opportunity to find people to get work and get PAID for them. I just hope they dont think about stealing the work you put into Sonic Fan remix without coming to you. Sega can use your help for the future episodes of Sonic 4.

I have to say that fan made projects ( done like this one Sonic Fan Remix) show the real potential that is out here and companies really need to look at fanservice game creations a bit more serious. This one puts the company one to shame. And they get PAID to make their game. SMH! Now i do know there are many fans that come together and form their own mini companies to make games for larger companies who buy out their creations and the cellphone games are a prime example. Contracted work.  I myself am viewing MUGEN as a stepping stone towards a larger picture. Once i got my own skills where i want them I plan on going into the field for maybe even a career as to it being just a hobby. Mugen is a gateway for people to not only do as a hobby and learn how to do sprite works, coding, programming and such but as well as to seek to get into the industtry  mainstream. ya have to start somewhere ya know.  :w00t:

The demo looks awesome. These people should get hired by Sega to make the rest of the sonic games.
Why are the fans of every old school game making better games than the company's? This will defiantely be on my watch list along with the remake of Metroid and Megaman.

Cause fans see all the flaws that might be in some company games that they just overlook to get the game out or they have much better ideas and add their own to the mix. plenty of other reasons as well as tech stuff.

the companies need to stop making baby steps with the ones that are putting money in their pockets. i mean what capcom did with the o.c. remix fellas was nice, but a lil more interaction would not kill anyone, especially those at sega. considering that they lost so much on the grounds of not listening to their fanbase, now is a good time to open their ears to us!! if they keep this up , sonic is gonna go the way of ice cube, think about that people lol!!!

Ya know whats so bad, even if sega wanted to stop you guys they couldnt. reason 1: You put a disclaimer saying that it was a fanmade creation and that ownership of Sonic belongs to Sega, you never took credit of sonic being an original creation. Reason2: even if they put out a Cease and Desist, they already on thin ice and last thing they wanna do is attract attention like that, knowin that the Sega fanbase is basically leaning away, especially when its fanmade games like this. So really, sega only has 2 choices IF they are mad, they could order a Cease and Desist and lose more fans in the process, not to mention that they are in still in debt and that would be a bad business decision or they can talk to you about working for the company and NOT change up your style cuz thats what would have brought them to you to begin with. I hope you guys have this game copyrighted, as far as the creation with the graphics and actual game.

but imma have to check my business and law books on the whole copyright thing. cpoyrighting something thats already copywritten is new to me in a sense. I think if they made this using their own engine design and not used any specs from original segas then yeah i can see them def copyrighting but they of course could not sell and distribute. Yeah Sega should hire the creators of this game. frickin sweet!

This was made with "Unity3D" a engine that anyone can buy (I believe it is free), but copyright infringement and laws are indeed a hassle.  :-"

That won't stop Sega. It didn't stop Square Enix in stopping a 3D remake of Chrono Trigger that looked REAL promising http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/ . In the end it doesn't matter if they lose some fans or not cause they don't really care. Also you have to remember this, Sonic is still being made and any fan made project that is ambitious as this one will take away any more Sega could make. I mean why buy Sonic 4 when this fan made project is almost on par, on par or better? They have to nip it in the butt sadly.

Yeah, Sega has made a lot of bad decisions lately. The physics in Sonic 4 was lousy and very little of it was original. Then there's GameWorks which they closed down like half the locations (it was my favorite arcade place). They still need to do something with their older franchises like Streets of Rage and Shinobi, instead they focus on making 3 or so mediocre Sonic games a year. As much as I like Sonic, I'm really sick of seeing so many games, even though they are better then what we got 4-8 years ago. Then they're doing movie based games, nobody trusts movie based games anymore because almost all of them suck. Then there was Yakuza 3 which they censored because they thought western minds couldn't comprehend Japanese culture (although they're making up for that without censoring Yakuza 4).

Sega needs to wake up and smell the coffee, but I don't think that will happen any time soon.
