The game is an MMORPG that's been in development for several years.
Sony threw their hat in with DC and basically got started on an MMO for the DC Universe. Thing is, it's not going to be half-assed. The general artistic direction has been handled by Jim Lee for most of the projects life and big time creators like Marv Wolfman and Geoff Johns are involved with the plotting for it. They seem to be looking to make this a serious competitor in the MMO market, combining the mass appeal of superheroes with the appeal of DC with the appeal of MMO's.
Some early Alpha's have been brought to comic conventions lately. General vibes on the work in progress build being shown is that it's very solid so far. Quite a few seem to be walking away having enjoyed themselves, so that speaks pretty good to how it's shaping up, I'd think. There are video's online of the demo's in action; I'm sure if you search around for a bit you can get a decent look at what's been shown.
It's supposed to be a PC and PS3 release.
It should go without saying considering Sony's involvement, but no X-Box 360 port.
Since the PS3's gone down in price, I'll probably play it that way. No way my PC will be able to handle this game.
