how to set the number of round

what i need to know is if it's possible to set a different number of rounds other than 3 in mugen, and if it is, how do i change it? and which is the maximum number of rounds?

In fight.def in your data a file is something with the # of rounds.

Right here:
[Round]
match.wins = 2

Chage it to whatever # you want.

Note: 2 means that 3 rounds are possible. It is the number of WINS you need.
