Ponyo
« on: August 16, 2009, 04:47:03 PM »
Has anyone seen Ponyo? Its the newest movie by Studio Ghibli, the people that brought us classics like "Spirited Away" and "Princess Mononoke". I saw this movie yesterday with some friends and man, it was AWESOME. I know its a movie for little kids, but I loved it. When I saw it there was a lot of empty seats which made me think that maybe more people were going to see G-Force ( :-& ) than this masterpiece, but when I was leaving there was a HUGE line of people in the theater and a lady told us it was the line of people waiting to see Ponyo.  I think the only thing I didn't like about the movie was that Disney slapped their name on it as though they made it. How dare they take credit for something so good!  \-/o

I've already watched the Japanese one to death, so I went with some friends to see the dub. It was great, except for Sosuke's voice. Ponyo's "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM" yell was adorable though. In the end, I enjoyed it a lot although it was weird to like it at first since it's the only Miyazaki film specifically targeted towards children.

EDIT: Actually, Disney didn't take credit for it. In every commercial for the film, they called it "Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo". Just like with other Studio Ghibli films.

Miyazaki has done it again! He's such a imaginative genius when it goes for anime. When I saw the preview, I really want to watch Ponyo so badly! After I see it, I might want to tell all about it here. :o

I don't know why Disney has to take credit on it, though. I have to research that.
Back then, Disney made their own animated works and they were the geniuses back then with Alladdin and The Lion King. Even the Disney Channel used to be good with classic animations that we grew up with.
The cake is a PIe!

:lies: If only you knew the truth... Disney is a rip off of so many stories that had already been around. Lets take Lion King for example. That is a rip off of Kimba. Google it and you'll see what I mean.
Coming 2099.

Just to clear things up, when I said disney was taking credit for it I just meant that when the movie starts they play the whole presented by walt disney thing, so people that don't know about Hayao Miyazaki might think they made it. In the commercial though I do think they mention him.  :-??
