I agree. It's not like they are strangers to RPGs either, since they made one based on the Samurai Showdown series.

I agree i forgot about the samurai shodown rpg kof has a huge fan base this game will sell im sure of it.. And i know rpg fans will giv this a game a try. When a game does the same game genre over and over and over it gets old theres nothing wrong with experimenting i mean can u really blame them.. Kof has been a fighter since 94 and there are more kof  fighters  then i can count..

Hmmmm...where to begin with this. First off I agree with Nuty; I'm both a fighter enthusiast and a HUGE RPGer so I WELCOME this attemp with open arms and mind. But may I remind you that this is NOT SNK's first voyage into RPGdom. Remember Samurai Shodown RPG? If I remember correctly (other than the total FAILURE of the stupid Neo-Geo CD system) that game was sought after. Hell, there are still people clamoring over the attempts at translating the game and getting it to work on a self-supported emu. (or something like that). Now, about CvS...what they did was called BALANCING (though I'm sure you guys already knew this). Sure SNK's chars have more moves than the Capcom chars...but with this one it was just inevitable that one of the two franchises was gonna have to be tampered with in this situation and it was probably just EASIER to make the SNK chars lighter on content than to come up with NEW additional moves for the Capcom cast...especially since some of them came from games OTHER than SF (though Capcom STILL pisses me off with their choices in there roster in their vs games cause of all the SFers they always pick  :-w ) But, yeah there was really little choice there.

Now, I think that though you have good reason to fear the repercussions of this venture, I think you are thinking a little linear. Like Nuty said, they'll still continue to release KoF fighters (probably...there is always the possibility that they are already ready to wind the series down to its end...). And fighter can too work as RPGs. Look at NxC, look at Shoalin Monks. It could work. Hell, when you think about it, the fighters (games I mean) themselves (if they have a story mode) basically already has a RPG mode in it...and the actual matches are like it's particular style of battle system.

We are all entitled to our own opinions (I am a STRONG believer in this moral), but I just think you should be a LITTLE more open minded about it. And, to whomever that was that said that the graphics were ugly, may I remind you that OMG graphics /= as EPIC win...there are quite a few games out there (thanks to the new generation of gaming consoles) that look AMAZING...but are either boring as HELL or are just so SHALLOW and/or short...I'm a strong believer in that if the graphics look GOOD (not OMG, but simply GOOD) and the MEAT of the game is great, then your fine...and in this case you can give the gamer/players more to have fun with. A perfect example of this theory has been put into play by Nippon Ichi Soft/NISAmerica with their Disgaea series, Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom, and many others in their catalog...also, Mana Khamia(sp?) and the Ataleir Iris series both have nice, 2D graphics, but manage to emerse the players into an ENJOYABLE experience. But, this is just my opinion (and surprisingly that of a few gaming magazine editors...as I don't USUALLY agree with them...)

P.S. SF DOES have a canon story plot...just not WELL linked. Also, there are only a handful of bosses but there are PLENTY of villains in the SF universe since SF seems to link to a couple of Capcom's other franchises slightly. Also, I'm sure they'll make the stroy in the KoF RPG NON-canon as to separate it from their WELL established KoF continuing plot. At least, I would hope they are smart enough to know to do this...

Looks interesting hopefully theres multiplayer an hopefully terry bogard is playable

oh and capcoms representation on the snk chars in Cvs was better than snks representation of capcom chars in svc chaos

@ kratos u are somewat correct i think that capcom vs snk was a better game but at least snk didnt take away any moves from the capcom characters.

lol also true snk does have a gift when selecting rosters its like capcom picks the same ppl for every versus game and every street fighter gets kinda annoying..

Capcom always pick their most overused characters (Morrigan, Zangief, etc). SNK choose to pick cool-but-overlooked characters (Demitri, Tessa). While CvS look more like "Street Fighter Vs. King of Fighters", SvC looks more like a real crossover, in the sense of the word.

Not only that, but SNK did a much better job of using Capcom's repertoire of franchises in the SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash series (which began on the Neo Geo Pocket, naturally ;)), which is more of a crossover than both CvS and SvC put together. To wit:

Yo nutpatch whattup!!! I do't think capcom was jealous on their move with cvs 1. I guess it was more of a balance issue. Going by capcom standard, the snk characters would mop the floor with them (excluding Benimaru, he sucks LOL). in cvs 2, the battle ground was a lil more even. But back on topic, I'm looking forward to this game. If this turns out as good as Samurai Showdown rpg (import Sega Saturn), this might work.
