Black Screen

I never had this problem before, but I went to load mugen today, and ever since, even if I download a new mugen, or do anything....any mugen I try to start up just gives me an endless black screen.

I let it go for like 15 minutes, but my computer wasn't lagging, and I've tried this on Mugen engines with no characters besides KFM. that shouldn't take more then seconds.
Sometimes the starting menu comes up for a half a second, then it flashes black and stays that way.

What screen pack are you using, what was the last character or stage you installed.
Try removing characters and stages untill you get it to work, try to go in order of what was most recently installed.

It's nothing I installed, it just suddenly did this when last time before it worked. I've even tried rebooting my computer, no go.
I've tried to run different mugen engines like plus, normal, hi res, etc. I even tried the original and plus with screenpacks, I still cannot get a mugen to load.
I've tried almost everything I can think of already.

did you try runing a scan to check your computer for errors, have you tryed reparing your hardrive, have you tryed just changing the music plugin?

psychospider had the problem start for him a month ago and even after fixing his entire computer it still won't load

I still have no clue, and I can't get any other mugen to work, but my main one with all my files worked again after a reboot, and seems to be going fine now.
I think it's a hardware problem honestly...

Then you should run a repair on your harddrive to be safe, all you got to do is go to "my computer" right click the c: drive hit propertys and tab over till you find the option to scan the disk for errors then repair.
Might end up speeding your computer up too!

yeah, if that dont work, then make sure your virtual memory is maxed out, and if that dont speed things up a bit, get more ram.

I thought it might have been corrupted or something, but even scans showed nothing.
Still, I had to re-format my computer anyways, since I had numerous other problems.

It's all fine now, everything works perfectly. I just made sure to back it all up on my slave drive first =3
Post Merge: April 08, 2009, 07:34:25 PMOh and I forgot to mention, I found out some mugen engines have a higher priority, and will never be affected by this. the only problem is you can't change the screenpack, or remove any of the plug ins it has.
