We've lost at work 29 pc's past 3 mounths, It found important shared programs/data and destroyed it.
All the pc's crashed in the same way, The rumor goes that one of the peoples that work there downloaded 18+ stuff on his pc (at work)
But it was an .exe file probably, And then you know the rest of the story.


I don't really think its a joke at all.
I will still update my pc/antivirus tonight, I dont want the same $#!7 that happened some years ago with a virus called MyDoom.

Yea there is supposed to be a page at microsoft's site that will see if you have the virus/worm. It cannot remove it but atleast let you know. Ill check that out tonight. Ill also update every bit of virus/spyware software I have on my computer. I will not update to SP3 tho. It just gives me huge performance drops.

Its not really that easy to get it, Only if you haven't updated your windows server.
Then it will go through your antivirus (Yes it does)


But a friend of mine got it by simply downloading an uploaded (music) file, The uploader was probably infected.

Could be like the "I Love You" virus that went out back in 02'. Open it in an E-mail and it spread, goes through your E-mail list and sends itself to all of your contacts. Your contacts guard is dropped since the recognize the sender and open it. Rinse, Wash, Repeat.

My Computer Maintenance Professor knocked out my entire campus plus two other campuses in one shot because it emailed all the other teachers she regularly kept contact with.

My younger brother got early free from school beacuse all the pc's just shut down...


It can be maybe a joke but then the developers of the "joke" need to pay hell of money for those 15.000.000 computers that were infected by this.

What anti virus does it attack? Im using mcafee security suite right now. Ive been using it for almost a year. Dont tell me I got infected. I just got this comp up and running day before yesterday. I will be mad.

ok then i guess it's not a joke.  so far my computer is doing fine.   if it's real whoever made this confinker worm needs to be hung.

Well its almost the 2nd of april here in europe.
And we've finally managed to get our pc's repaired.
But it sadly will cost a lot of time to restore the "normal" settings.
The data will be lost for always.

They've found something strange in the virus that can lead to a hint.

"The worm/virus is supposed to attack in every country in the world, except Ukraine"

It does make sense since almost all the big virusses came from west european countries.   
It looks that Conflicker doesn't get updated today (or he will get updated at 11:59 )
I think the developer(s) wants to trick us with the update-date (Is that a word? )


People with a good antivirus don't need to be afraid that they will get hacked, You only need to be abit more careful these times.

Also, you don't even need to worry about this if you are up to date with your Windows Updates. A patch was put out back late last year.

So as long as you just stay up to date (which you should be doing anyway), you're fine. If you still manage to get it, it's hard to feel sorry for someone. It's your own fault then.

It's not one's own fault, blame Conficker's master for that. It's been quiet for now, but still, we need to be alert when the day Conficker will finally strike.
