How do I get stages to not show up in the stage select screen (like the bonus's)

I used to know how to do this, but somehow after awhile, I forgot. So.... now I need help.

I'm making a game for my gf (I'm on her laptop right now). I got all the characters I want, I just need to figure out how to make the special stages hidden. I tried this

Car2,  ,stages/Carbg2.def, select=0

But it didn't work.  Can anyone help please? Thanks.
