Portrait size...
« on: April 01, 2008, 08:15:39 PM »
 :-??
Hi all.
So I've got this Deadpool on my mugen, but the portrait is huge on select and versus screen. Can this be resized? If so could you please explain?
Here's a pic:

Use Gimp for resizing. Its the only one I know of that doesnt degrade the pic while scaleing.

Im going to resize all of mine as full pics (head to toes).

well u see thats what i would have used fighter factory for, so i can save portrait as pcx file then ,as blizzardtora said use gimp to resize.   blizzardtora? your thoughts?

Ok. Got it. What if i wanted to use the pcx file as a portrait... how do i "add" it so that i can see the pcx file instead of the other one.

i would go to fighter factory, open the char and save the portrait over the existing one, then save it to the sff

are you trying to see it in mugen, fighter factory, or gimp?

If mugen you may have to fix the X and Y axis in Fighter factory so you can see it.

In fighter factory go to sprites of course
    - there is options on the left that say add and change depending on what you want to do
    - the sprite numbers for the portraits should be 9000,1 for big and 9000,0 for select portraits.
you can check this by learning from other characters.

oh also you may have to use the scroll bar or find to locate sprites 9000. some creators put them in the back or odd places.

ok, so i found the portrait, and saved it as an pcx file on the same folder; i noticed that all the pcx are on the same file (sff) and if i modify the portrait, the whole character suffers. Now, should i open the pcx portrait, change and then add it? how?

Alright if you havent modified it yet go to the pcx and right click and ask it to edit with gimp.
-I believe the menu you need is edit > scale image. And all you need to do is change one of the scales. (The other is changed to fit).

Once youre back at fighter factor do as I stated above and either add or change the old 9000, 1 sprite.

thats it youre done unless you need to fix the X and Y axis. (This requires alot of trial and error)

Well the only way to get the char perfect is to find the sprite in Fighter Factory and redo the color in Gimp. Of course if your like me and dont wish to do the recoloring and only care to use the main costume then go into Fighter Factory and find that messed up sprite then turn of the share palette button for that sprite.

If its a series of sprites the first one usually only needs to be turned of. Again only do it if you only need the main palette because if you play with the other colors the char will change colors back to the original on animations using those sprites.
