MY brother got a photoshop cse extended download beacause the school gave him one , and he said I could use it to edit sprites, but I dunno know how to use it, can someone help me!!!!

1.st  Try using you-tube for directly looking for what you are looking for (Example: If you were looking to get the glass effect of a graphic artist design you would have to fiddle with your gradient and layer settings, of course those would have to be tweak to your satisfaction
2.nd Try to also obtain E-books, there are free dircetory's for finding free E-books... 
3.rd and lastly just fire it up and mess with all of the settings (Example: open up a sprite in photoshop and just apply there automatic rendering features and will obtain a plethora of options)

Yes that also is a good suggestion but on a side note, the magic wand tool kit is limited in terms of scoop compared to the options in photo cs3 or beyond.

magic wand must be used on just some stric works, because it could ruin all the work. If you will use, turn off the anti-alias and put the "tolerance" to 0.

on CS3, there is a better tool to hand selections..its the smart selection (don't remember the name right now and I'm too lazy to open cs3 )

I believe you're referring to the Quick Selection Tool, and yes, it's much better than the Magic Wand Tool.
