Changing the image size in EVE select screen

I wanted to see if, when one alters the categories in the EVE screenpack, they could put in higher-definition files (larger images, really) and scale them down.  I'd assume one should put something in the bits of code like this:

[SelectBG s01]   ;
   type  = normal
   layerno = 1
   start = -26, 18   ;start = -77, 18
   mask = 1
            spriteno = 600,1

but I'm not sure what to put, or if I'm right in this being the place to alter, or if it's somewhere else I should turn to.
