Street Fighter Assassin's Fist
« on: May 04, 2014, 12:14:46 AM »
Not sure if you guys were aware of this or not. The web series will be launching this month! Not sure when though. It could be late May when the first episode airs. Hopefully sooner than that I hope.

For those not familiar with what this is, the creators of the short film "Street Fighter: Legacy" have filmed a web series that focuses on Ryu and Ken during their younger years, being taught by Gouken. It also explores Gouken's life as a young student and the story of Gouki/Akuma. From all that I've seen, this is looking really awesome. The creators of this series have worked their butts off to make this one of the most meticulously faithful adaptions of a comic/video game franchise to date. From the looks of the characters, their personalities, back stories, to their fighting styles. The characters will actually fight like they actually do in the video game, not just pulling off a special move once in a while. This is super impressive; a well done live adaption of Street Fighter, for once. See the three currently released trailers to get a feel for what they have in store:

Ryu's Trailer

Ken's Trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsXeTKQRtj4#ws

Ken's trailer is my favorite, mainly for the climax with Ken screaming "Shoryuken!!!!" That got me pumped! Can you tell I'm excited for this? lol I really hope this catches on and will lead to more Street Fighter projects like this.

There will be a total of 12 episodes around 10-12 minutes on Machinima, then it will be released on DVD as a full length film.

I seen the trailers, and I am rooting for this!

What I find most impressive is how they are taking a video game storyline and trying to adapt it into a good, compelling story. Video games don't usually lend themselves well in terms of story when it comes to live action adaptions. Street Fighter doesn't have much story. The story that is there needs much expounding on, which can be difficult. Looks like these guys have worked long and hard to tell a good story. A multi-generational one at that. They focus on Gouken and Akuma in the 1950's and Ryu and Ken in the 1980's. I think it's cool this is set in the 80's, when the original games were supposed to have happened.

This is the most compelling adaptation of the game series I've ever seen. It's a pretty well done job and I like how depth of the storyline is going. :) I'm so amazed of this after watching the trailer. Can't wait. Wanna watch it so bad. This is going to be like what Mortal Kombat had with detailed storylines. ;)

New full trailer!!!

I like that this one gives you a better sense of the cinematic scope it has. Looks really exciting! Some parts of the sfx and make up looks better than others, but even huge budget films have their weak points with that.

So May 23rd, same day as Days of Future Past! Big day!

Watched all the episodes this afternoon. I liked it very much. Adaption-wise they were absolutely faithful.
I really like the reference to Gen and Dan. That was cool. The only thing I didn't care for was Akuma's face didn't look quite like Akuma from the game and some of the effects you could tell were low budget. But this series was made on a low budget. So you can imagine what they could do with more than the $2-3 million they had!
I'm impressed with the character driven story. This is a solid web series/TV mini series.
I like how it feels like there is much more of the SF world to explore. I hope they are able to continue the series and include more characters. Ultimately, we all wish to see the World Warrior tournament adapted well one day.

OMG!!! This sh*t was tight! This is the live action Street Fighter i've been wanting/waiting for. They did a really good job on this... especially considering the budget they had. Any news on when the DVD/Blu-Ray comes out, cause i gotta support this.

Well done, Well done!!!  ^:)^
