How do I get FRAPS to work with Mugen 1.1b?

I can record older versions of Mugen with FRAPS fine, but for some strange reason, I can't even get the FRAPS counter to appear (let alone record) in Mugen 1.0 & Mugen 1.1b.  Does anyone know how to get FRAPS to work with these versions of Mugen?

So far, I've tried recording with FRAPS, Camtasia Studio 8, and Shadowplay (via my graphics card) and none of them work. FRAPS & Shadowplay don't work at all and Camtasia either just records a black screen with sounds or just the main menu for the whole video (with sounds from the fights).  It's really annoying because I had some really cool 2P VS matches, but none of them recorded.

I'd like to use Mugen 1.1b, but I need to be able to record my fights.  Are there any other recording programs that you know work with Mugen 1.0/1.1b (and that aren't too expensive)?

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
