I got two videos here ill post in another thread which helped me in one way but honestly i know somebody here in the shadows knows something about stuff like this
(click to show/hide)

I see it all the time at MFG. so whats good IMT? what GFX artist here knows about it and can share the knowledge? i can sure use it and im sure a lot others can too^^

All i want to get down right is how you get it to share the color palette of the character clothes with the custom projectile color in game. whats the step by step process? How do you get those colors on your projectile properly in Fighter factory?

-Ive always knew how to index sprites properly using gimp so it doesnt have color loss when im sprite editing but for some reason i always screwed that up with FX. Until recently now i know how to do that right with photoshop from the video posted above using PS.

Heres an example of one i made and its perfect now in game
(click to show/hide)

-The insert of new colors in a character palette i did right i think as shown at the bottom. BUT i still cant seem to figure out the custom color of this projectile i did to show....im messing up somewhere
(click to show/hide)

so can some one please share that knowledge?! not a two sentence breakdown....no...a step by step tutorial. Even pics or video if you can. if you know it then share it. IMT could use it seriously^^

...ill post the two videos i saw related to ripping sprites in another section btw^^

Well...
I dunno what's the real trouble here if you alredy saved your fx with the palette you show above,
unless the sprite not using the same indexes.

For this kind of thing I only use Photoshop, it's more easy... at least for me.

Open your fx sprite on PS and check the table color of the sprite if it's in the same index position of that palette you posted... if not:

- create a new palette/act file with only the fx colors and the transparent color (in the same indexes of your char act file you posted)

- convert your sprite to RGB first and just after convert it back to Indexed colors to remap the colors (Image>mode>indexed color)

- when the option appear for palette, choose custom and select the palette you created before.

- Save the sprite as pcx, on FF insert it on the sff with shared palette option active.

Make sure you have the char palette using the fx colors in the same indexes, and the previous frames are shared using that palette... move the images using a different palette to the end of your sff.

I think that's it. ;)

You've seen my "get your pics ready for mugen" video right?

Well if you have an image like this

You go and you make a key/legend of all the colors your going to want to be in your palette, and with something like that its easy to just arrange the colors how you want when your converting them using the steps shown in my video.
Just make sure all your sprites are using only the colors you want to use, and try not to overlap the colors of your character with the projectiles.

ah good! thanks for the reminder on this!!....yeh i forgot about this old video of yours. i can watch this again now and read over what loganir said for PS too make sure im extra clear on the process...

@Loganir: Thanks on this tip also! Ill run with this too. Yeh i had colors in my palette and saved but i kept hitting a brick wall on something in FF which was screwing up the FX of the projectiles a bit when i tried to alter the color. weird thing where one sprite was messed up in graphics. i re indexed it again right as i did the rest but then it happened again smh...but yeh now ill combine what both you and spidermew sent so i can progress and get a better shot at it...

Thanks for the assist fellas!
