Spec Ops Heavy Strike

What, a new Spec Ops char?



This is Heavy Strike, an edit over Cable (no kidding) which were to be released since 2010. Since people keeps asking me for this char, I decided to release it.
It features all things from Spec Ops (dino damage, hard AI, tons of moves), many weapons and 3 modes.

Cool, I remember you showing this, I totally forgot about it.  I really need to put together a screen pack for myself with all the special ops character one day.

I haven't been able to get this character to work in my mugen 1.0. I keep getting error messages saying -

Error message: Can't read file: cns\basics.cns 
Error loading chars/so_heavy.def 
Error loading p1
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some poeple are having this error, but here it works fine.
As far as I know, the slashes are inverted on the file paths.

try to edit the .def and change to cns/basics.cns

U mean go in the characters so_heavy.def file and change the  cns\basics.cns  into  cns/basics.cns if that is what u said, then no it didn't work I keep getting the same error message. Perhaps u should try it u self and see what happen. I'm using the mugen's legend screenpackl the screenpack is located inhttp://crusadercast.com/announcements/crusader-fest-2013-event-tracker!!!/msg143683/ if u have any other subjection to try to get this character to play let me know. thank u

Character looks so good and I haven't been able to get him to work, and it is really annoying. I Just try it in a deferent screenpack also 1.0 and the same thing happen

There is something wrong with the character, because how do u explain the error, I try it in 3 deferent screenpack and I had the same error in all 3. Just redownload the  character with a deferent web browser and is still the same thing. I'm done with this character, is not working i'm moving on.  :'(

Is a complete mystery then. The character is selectable in my screen pack but when is about to go to the vs. screen window before the fight takes place, the whole thing crash and it gives me those errors.

I did try it in 2 other deferent screen pack and the same thing happen. Must be I haven't downloaded the character correctly and it has errors that causing the thing to crash. I took a picture of my screenpack with the character in the select screen but I don't even know how to uploaded in here, plus that's not even the problem, the problem is that it crashes after u select the character and never gets to the vs screen window before the fight.  Do u have any other link or place to download this character maybe  I'm downloading it with errors.

I hate when things like this happen, I figure  it out. I was extracting the file using WinZip, and WinZip were not extracting the file correctly. Usually WinZip don't have any problems extracting any file regardless if is WinZip or WinRAR files. It did this time. I install WinRAR wish I didn't even have install in my computer and extracted the  heavy strike character and everything working fine now without any crashing problems anymore.  Great character good job with him.

Thanks for the release!  For an edit over, this guy has some class.  You seemed to work well with what you had while adding a unique flare to him.  Some stylistic options like having him hold his back turned stance after firing his gun is cool.  Since you stated that this is from a complete game, it may have its own properties that I am not aware of so please take the feedback with a grain of salt if it is something design related.  Notes are below:

-There are a lot of basic infinite or extreme life bar juggles using combinations of MP, LL, and MK.  Ex:  Repulser Punch into cornered opponent, MK, MK, Mk, (Or LK) etc…  I’m personally not a fan of styles that require air recovery or you lose ½ or more of your life bar immediately but if that is part of the design of your game please ignore this.

-Natural standing punch combo is awkward.  All of the moves chain into each other, but since the second hit is a natural launcher, the gun shot misses.

-Standing MP:  This move will reset damage dampening.  From my previous example:  Repulser Punch into cornered opponent, MK, MK, Mk, MP, MK, MK, MK, MP…  The dampening will be reset allowing you to kill the juggled opponent pretty fast.

-Standing MP:  The only move that I have noted with a very large hit box.  You can launch the opponent from twice the distance that his arm extends

- Modes:  I love these and wish more characters had stance and mode switches.  This adds more depth in my opinion.  Well done!

- Timer Terrestrial Mine (All versions):  Heavy Strike (HS) can’t use other specials while the minies are activated.  It seems a bit excessive given the usefulness/damage of the mines.  I would consider allowing him to use specials or to at least give them all commands for triggering it manually like the electric version.

- SO-FTD G55T - Flame Sprinkler:  Couldn’t get more hits despite tapping away.  The damage did vary according to distance though since some hits miss at various increments of close range.

- SO-SMG T10KV - Charged Bolt Rifle:   I love the variations on the stream according to different button presses!

- SO-MSC D100T - Electric Cage Sight:  I don’t believe this move actually functions.  It seems to go straight into SO-MSC D100T - Electric Cage Target unless I am missing something.

- SO-MSC-SC D10MTV2 - Mined Field:  May want to mention in the readme that these can be manually activated by the same command after placement.

- SO-MSC D100T3X - Electric Prison:  Stylish as hell!  Good job!  This move does suck the enemies in past the area of effect on the initial hit though.

- SO-SSC EXP5 - Total Flash:  His recovery is too fast, allowing him to juggle enemies after he lands.

- SO-SSX TEC2 - Earthquake Recon:  This move occasionally repeats itself and goes on forever with him constantly looping in the grenade drop animation.

-Tech Pistol (Standing):  I could only reproduce this twice, but at some point, you can no longer control how many shots he fires.  All three will fire with one button press.

-He really needs a new character select portrait.

- The winpose where he jumps into a machine harness will sometimes loop while he is still on the ground preventing the round from ending.

This guy is pretty fun to play as.  I haven’t seen any of the other characters from this project but I’ll be following the future releases.  Thanks again!
