PS4, do you want it and will you buy it?

My opinion about PS4 - it's nothing overwhelming. I'm much more excited about that Unreal 4 engine . They made a good move with allowing rented/used games to be played without restriction(shame on you, microsoft greedy bastards). It's specs are like ones of a good PC and I'm not sure about good or bad was move with x86 architecture. While x86 means easier developing and PS4<->PC porting it would also mean less exclusives, i.e. less point in buying PS4 making gaming PC a better buy. Playing game while it's downloading is kinda weird stuff, but background downloading is kinda cool(why it wasn't made before? it's so obviously needed feature). All that social stuff like sharing for me is kinda diverting, I don't need that and I know youtube would be flooded by letsplays and other noobish game videos. No backward compatibility of course sucks but they have emulation in mind(you'll need to rebuy stuff, which sucks, but at least you'll be able to have titles you liked on prev PSs).
So for me it's uncertain, but at least I can't say "go with that crap where you got it from" as for Xbox. What do you think, guys, is it worth buying from what's known about it?

I think the console looks okay, but is nothing particularly special. On the other hand some of the games look very nice and MediaMolecule being given the added power is very interesting.

Doesn't feel like I've had my PS3 long enough, but I'll upgrade. I'll probably wait a while though.

it's spec'ed quite well (for today, but not soo much for a very long product life), and the games will have better hardware access than on pc
if they make it cheap enough i might buy one instead of building a pc, plus i love playing with a controller rather than a keyboard

I could care less what the console can or can't do. My opinion is based entirely on if my friends will get it and on which console will have the most amount of interesting games as exclusives.

Maybe not, at least at first. My opinion of a console depends entirely on the quality of it's games. If has a good number of games I'm interested in when it launches, I'll buy it. If it doesn't, then I might just wait until it does.

That's essentially impossibru. Anything that goes into a console is a PC part and a PC will always be the most upgradable up-to-date platform unless Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft create a part that is the best on the market themselves and somehow stop anyone else from being able to recreate it.

better hardware access means the games/ engines/ etc. get to communicate directly to the cpu and gpu, whereas pc games have to go though different things like the os, direct x, and whatever else

i don't have the best explanation of this, and i don't know the specifics (google could produce a better explanation), but i do know that much to be fact

Expectations are, that it'll cost around 500$. If so, it would be less then gaming PC with same specs... Though some people are not that optimistic and saying it will cost 1000$ or even more. That's unlikely, I don't know how will they make people buy it with such price, but who knows.

not in a a hurry to get this at all but most likely will later when more games are realsed or if they stop releasing content for ps3. i think it sucks that watch dogs became an exclusive game for it was really looking forward to that and now that i think about it the guys who make tekken were saying tekken x street fighter probably will be next gen so its starting to look like it wont relase for ps3

I am starting to head in that direction myself actually. When I get a job and a hunk of money, I'll just build myself a gaming PC; I'd rather play DmC Devil May Cry on 60 FPS anyway; I recall some command input delays when playing the PS3 demo of the game.
