hey I've been gone for a little bit, but I'm probably going to be a little scarce for a small time. My mother has liver disease and her liver is dead. It's only a matter of time before the inevitable happens. yeah it sucks, but what i need to do is prepare about what to do if she does pass, I still have 2 younger sisters one is 15 and the other 10, me and my brother would have to finish raising them. So in the mist of all this, i'm trying to get my business started in the event of my mothers untimely death

I'm really sorry to hear that bro, my recent move to virginia was done because my father is dying as well... I know what your going through. Situations like these always bring your inner strength out, especially when there's children out there that would have to depend on you afterwards. I know you would do a great job with them if it came to that. You didn't mention anything about a transplant so I'm guessing the chances of that are pretty slim... I hope for the best for you and your family.

how long has he been on that list? They took my mom off of it because her white blood cell count was really high, they had to do a bone marrow biopsy to figure out whats wrong. They want to get her stable before she's back on it. I just hope they can give her meds to keep her stable long enough for transplant. My mothers disease was due to side effect of mental medication given to her over the years. The doctors should have been monitoring her but they didn't.

I lost my grandfather two weeks ago, and I know just how it feels. He had a lung disease and he had to use the... I don't know the name, it's a machine that makes one breathe artificially, then they took it off so he could start breathing by himself, but he just couldn't make it. He was 80 but he looked as if he had just turned 60. My mother is destroyed, and all of our family are trying to make her feel a little better.
So I wanted to tell you good luck, I hope everything turns up the best possible way.

sorry to hear about your mom, I hope everything turns out for the best... in the meantime, maybe you can get a suit? My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago due to her doctor not paying enough attention and my mom and I are currently trying to gather info for legal action. I'm just even more saddened that this could have been prevented, and you & your family are in my prayers

StarXS is right, I was just doing some reading because I remember hearing about some class action law suits on TV involving just whats going on with your mother. I know sueing might make you feel like a scummy american, but in this case if the doctors neglected her in some way your family deserves compesation. Try doing some research on the net about class action law suits involving the medication she was on. I'm sure if your left to take care of your family its not going to be easy, and maybe something like this could help.

He's been on the list for two years but I guess the doctors are at a wait and see moment with the medication. So as long as the medication goes well the transplant isn't on option. In other words, their trying to see if the liver heals on it's own. I hope it doesn't come to the transplant. Remember even a transplant can have bad effects. The body could reject it even with medication or it may only sustain them for awhile.

WOW!So many bad news lately...first SPAN and his grandfather,then REDHOT going away due to PC problems,and now Toph and his Mom...man...what a terrible week for this forum...
I hope everything turns out fine with your mom,and if not,remember that we are here to support also...Is she on a list for a liver transplant?Because that will save her...
And that doctor should lose his licence for being lazy,StarXS,sue him for everypenny you have man...

I too hope that anyone who is having a family issue like mine, I hope them the best as well, because it sucks having to go through it, and everyone is going to experience something similar. This freaking sux. They wont put her on the stupid transplant list because they said she doesn't have enough family support!!! I live in a different city than my mother, all these doctors are just giving us the run around, no one is giving us correct answers, I'm doing all I can and nothing is getting done. It seems like this is a way of telling us to screw off because my mom has no insurance. She's mental, is bi polar and has schizophrenia and has been cared by the government her whole life and her social worker took her to an evaluation and told us it was just a class to get her  on the list, but in reality there were meetings that were going on that we were supposed to go to and talk to doctors and no one informed us on it. Now some specialist says she's looking at 3  freaking weeks because there is a sore that has grown and torn open in her liver and there is nothing that can be done   

This makes me so very angry and I can't do anything but sit and watch
