Sony's Screen Gems has revealed the first trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil: Retribution which you can watch using the player below!

In the film, the Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Opening in theaters on September 14, the fifth installment stars Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe and Li Bingbing.

Ali Larter (Claire Redfield), Wentworth Miller (Chris Redfield) and Spencer Locke (K-Mart) will not return and their absence will be explained by their characters being captured by Umbrella.

The movies series, tho i like it was been very hit and miss. I am going to go see this movie. However im not very geeked tho. Michelle Rodriguez IS ONE  OF MY FAVORITE ACTRESS. OMG SHES SO DAMN HOT!!! the thing that gets me is how the hell shes come back? She;s plays the same character too. She maybe a clone because the only details about her is; ones good, ones evil.

Also I haven't really seen all the movies, but what's with the main character that they made just for the movies? What was wrong with using Chris, Jill, Leon, or any of the other stars as the main character

I really hope Ali Larter or w/e her name is is gone for good. She's a terrible actress and she couldn't pull off her character very well at all.

Why don't they change the name, already? I hate when I'm talking to people abut RE story and they are like: "Where is Alice is RE5?" or "No, Nemesis was a good guy, he was just brainwashed."

Whats worse is when they try to add in characters like Wesker, Chris, or Jill to make it 'relevant' to the series. It makes is just enough to make people keep thinking it is intertwined with the games.

  they're in the movies is because they are the resident evil universe. The movies takes place in the a alternate universe but the characters from the main still exist. Its like what marvel and DC universes.

They wanted a different lead character. They wanted to avoid the character not being the same as they where in the game.

Anderson stated the film would not include any tie-ins with the video game series as "under-performing movie tie-ins are too common and ResidentEvil, of all games, deserved a good celluloid representation"

I always have mixed feelings with these movies, on one hand I love them because they make great live action big screen cosplay moments. On the other hand, I hate them because they screw the source material to no end... Also were they allowed to use Tron Legacy music? Because I don't think TL's soundtrack is royalty free.
