The new Spawn won't let me assign a permanent stage.

The new Spawn that was released earlier this month, will not let me assign a stage to him. The only other character I've had this issue with, is Fat Albert.

Anyone know what's going on?  
What do I need to change to be able to assign a stage to Spawn - or Fat Albert for that matter?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

I'm using the 1.0 screenpack.

Mugen isn't recognising the stage you're trying to assign to the character.  Most likely the filename is incorrect.

No, that's not it. The stage shows up fine and is available in training or will show up as a random stage - it just won't let me assign it to Spawn.

No.

As I already explained, this is not an error on my end - I've assigned this stage just the way I have all the others that work fine. Again, the only other time I've had this issue is with Fat Albert.

To be clear again: this stage was assigned just like any other stage. The exact same way. But when I face-off against Spawn in arcade mode, he is always on a random stage instead of this stage I assign to him.

I just downloaded the character and stage and it works correctly for me.  I did have to remove the spaces from the stage filenames (maybe there's some trick to getting Mugen to accept files with spaces in the names but I don't know it).

Can you post the line from select.def?

This is how it looks:

stages/Evil Night Park.def

Are you saying I have to remove the spaces so it looks like this? stages/EvilNightPark.def

That's what I had to do (or you can replace the spaces with underscores or something).
If you do, make sure you also change the .sff name and also, you must open the .def file, find the line:

Code: [Select]

spr = Evil Night Park.sffand change it to:

Code: [Select]

spr = EvilNightPark.sff (or whatever you changed it to)

Just to be clear here: this was an error on the guy who made the stage, right? He was not supposed to include spaces in the file name according to what you're saying?

Well, that's the thing; it surely must have worked for the creator of the stage or he'd never have named it that way.  That's why I wondered if there was some trick to getting Mugen to accept filenames containing spaces.  If anyone knows the answer maybe they could post it here.

Mugen doesn't like spaces in .def files normally. Using _ is always a better option and what most people do. It's fine with them in strings within the engine, but for the .def file, especially when called from the select.def it likes you to have no spaces.

I realise it works, but then you get odd crap like the above so it's better to avoid it.
