The Top 5 Things that will NOT happen in The Dark Knight Rises.
« on: September 26, 2011, 08:01:58 PM »
Alright, I love how imaginations go wild in anticipating The Dark Knight Rises. By that, I mean, people need to remember 2 things about this Amazing Trilogy of Films:
A: This is Christopher Nolan's realistic take on Batman
B: There is no magic, sorcery, freak powers caused by "lab accidents", or (most importantly) Science greatly beyond what we have now.

So, in saying that, here are the Top 5 Things that WILL NOT happen (no matter what that clerk at Gamestop tells you with any "inside" rumors/information):

5: There will be no Killer Croc -
I have heard this rumor recently and this follows under the no "Freak Powers" rule of the Nolan Universe. Even if this person/creature did have Harlequin type ichthyosis or whatever is explained, of what use would it serve to the story line? The cause of villains and their motives in the Nolan Universe are either blatantly explained (Raas Al Ghoul's reasons to join the League of Shadows, Dr. Crane's sadist views on mind/fear manipulation), implied (The Joker's gag-explainations of how he "got these scars" and showing how he has no regard for how the world works within Order as anarchy and violence will always prove victorious) or shown (Two-Face's fall by disfigurement, truth of the corruption that is nearly invincible in Gotham, and the irony that his nickname came true). What would the point of Killer Croc's disease prove? Wear sunscreen

4. There will be no Robin. -
Now, this one may seem possible in a sense that Joseph Gordon Levitt's role could be SIMILAR to Robin. He could use Bruce Wayne's technology and fight on Batman's side, but he won't say anything along the lines of "Call me... Robin!" or "I like my suit to be red!" or anything cheesy like that. So, expect a cop that uses Wayne's technology to be bulletproof, or use a tumbler or a batpod before thinking Robin is going to be in this next film based on any comic incarnations.

3. Raas Al Ghul will NOT be Resurrected -
Again, think REALISM. There is no such thing as a Lazerus Pit. The reason I made that "Gamestop" joke earlier is because two knuckleheads said that they are "Certain" about there being the Lazerus Pit. And, to make it all the better, they defended it with "Well, HOW DID RAAS AL GHUL come back to life in BATMAN BEGINS?!" ... to them I said "Remember when Bruce Wayne said '...or just another one of your parlor tricks, Raas?' to Liam Neeson's character Henry Ducard after meeting a young imposter that was to mimic the Raas Al Ghul decoy that got killed?" Because Liam Neeson's Raas Al Ghul didn't die before that meeting, and thus no one got resurrected. The only way that Liam Neeson's Raas Al Ghul will appear is in the past and not the present story line. As Batman put it when he thought he was dead the first time "RAAS AL GHUL IS DEAD"

2. There will be NO JOKER -
This rumor quietted down in the past few months, but some people are still at it by saying that Nolan will use footage that wasn't put into the final mix of The Dark Knight. This is a rumor that is just lame. Well, actually, the rumor for number 1 is REALLY lame.....

Post Merge: September 26, 2011, 08:20:07 PM
1. NO VENOM -
I really think this is the stupidest rumor yet. I've heard people say "BANE needs venom!" or "I can't wait to see Venom turn him into a giant bad@$$!" ...This is where I make my biggest point about Nolan's Batman: There is nothing in existence that could make a man of 5'10" bulge into a 6'8" behemoth within seconds for Bane. So, with the only thing closest to a stretch in the Nolan universe as far as chemical science is the Fear Toxin (which is actually very possible in our reality considering how changing the mindstate of someone into absolute fear and chaos has been done with chemicals like LSD, "bad acid", psychodelics, etc.), this will NEVER fly in The Dark Knight Rises.
Not only does it not exist in reality or Nolan's universe, why would it need to? Bane has gone almost 2 Decades in canon without using Venom in the comic books. He was still as threatening, if not more, than ever. Plus, this version is bound to show the "Dark Reflection" of Batman and Bane. They will be equals in battle, intelligence, stamina, and bravery. The only difference will be their purpose in what the fight for. This will be his greatest foe yet without any use for Venom. Period.

So, that's the list of what will not appear in TKDR. And let's anticipate this amazing conclusion to a great trilogy with some brains, together. I can't wait until this summer!

I actually like it. I was never crazy on the Venom thing for my favorite villain.

The only thing I was 'eh' on was that Raas is dead, and that there is no Lazarus Pit.

"Josh Pence and Liam Neeson as Ra's al Ghul, with the former playing a young version of the character in scenes to take place thirty years before the events of Batman Begins and the latter reportedly reprising his Batman Begins role in a cameo appearance"

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_dark_knight_rises#cite_note-14
****In case of not liking Wikipedia, remember to find links to the interviews/news stories to fund this information by clicking the numbers to the right of the claims in the wiki article base below for more proof****

So if it's been confirmed that Josh Pence would be playing Ra's in a flashback 30 years prior, and Liam Neeson would have a cameo, what role would the Lazerus Pit play in the big picture of the film? If it DID exist, with all the casting direction released on Ra's' place in the timeline, then what purpose would it serve? Would they use it to resurrect Ra's for a cameo appearance only to have him killed off again?

I will wager that we see Liam Neeson as Ra's one last time with Bane in a flashback right before Ra's recruits Bruce Wayne in that Prison at the begining of Batman Begins. I think that Bane would be seen as willing to manipulate and rule the people of Gotham. Through the eyes of the League of Shadows purpose of keeping civilizations in check, Ra's would then deem Bane as a failure. Bane would be more brutal and corrupted than the leaders and authority in Gotham. Bane will instead of destroying the city to save the world from their decadence will simply become it's master. So, the last time we see Ra's will be right before recruiting Bruce in the timeline.

Oh haha Sorry! Typed words sound pretty harsh sometimes when they TOTALLY aren't meant to be. But yeah, I just wanted to post this because I was adding to how Ra's Al Ghul would appear and how the Lazerus pit wouldn't fly. I'm not really defending, I was just showing a bit more evidence on my point cause I feel like I didn't make the case clear.

Unless you're Nolan, the case will never be clear. Considering that you have absolutely zero creative input in the development of the film, I suggest you take a more humble step away from your ramblings of what is nothing more than fan speculation, albeit in opposition to some other fan speculation, and wait for the film like everybody else.

Do you know what the point of my post is? How could you tell me to be more humble? I am countering what people are spreading about Nolan's films that are not true. They are the ones who should be more humble to how Nolan has crafted the films. Watch the films again, please. I guess I should sum up what I posted with just a few sentences:

The universe of Batman people are still hoping for is the one different from basic reality. After two movies that show no magic, really advanced technology, and changes from the comic book universes (like the Joker not being deformed in a chemical explosion, but something more plausible in real life happening to him). The Batman's universe from Nolan is extremely close to our reality with exceptions reserved for usage of top military equipment that is not available for ground usage for actual combat. After the facts checked on top news sources, what people allege will simply not be true about certain characters (which I have pointed out). The point I make is that the imaginations of people spreading rumors could be easily contradicted by checking any news on the new film or examining the first two films as being Urban and realistic. These Batman films center on drama and character development rather than the mystical occurrences, alien technologies, or superhuman characters seen in the comics.

Go ahead, copy and paste my claims and save them. When the films comes out in July, you'll be shocked at how correct I was. But if on the very odd chance that you see Bane grow 2 feet taller with more muscles instantly, then I'll owe you something.
By the way, I don't really need "creative input" to point out the obvious. So now, you get your wish:

i gotta say , i am one of those dear folks holding on to comic movies and game movies that stay true to the source material. its not that its not possibole for them to make Bane grom 2 feet more but wether the writer and director wants him too. their vision. not always the perfect on cue vision but its theirs and so far, banking wise, its worked with 2 hit movies under his utility  belt in the new franchise.  I rather ( as a comic fan ) see the comic version of the characters brought to life with all the magic, and action stuff they do on point than give me reality batman.  people speak for the movies . if they buy the tickets and dvds and then keep buying then Nolan batman scores.  I am not expecting anything really but to see how it turns out. guessing plotlines and watermark characters at this point is useless really. with that spiderman i got the sense of what spiderman is going to be about , dont like the outfit at all , but the action might trump all that. so its just gonna see whats what with ole bats.  not trying to give any bad feedbacks tho bro , just sayin my lil opinion and surveying the conversation.

Bane:

http://nukethefridge.com/news/the-dark-knight-rises-tom-hardy-says-his-bane-is-not-the-guy-in-joel-schumacher%E2%80%99s-film
First straight interview involving Bane.

http://www.metro.co.uk/film/875337-tom-hardy-needs-height-boosting-shoes-on-batman-the-dark-knight-rises
(News, not interview) Shoes to look menacing without a single transformation.

http://www.latinoreview.com/news/tom-hardy-addresses-bane-size-criticism-14638
Reaction to the size of Bane as said by Tom Hardy

Robin/Joseph Gordon Levitt:

http://batman-news.com/2011/09/19/joseph-gordon-levitt-as-robin-in-the-dark-knight-rises-he-wont-deny-it/
Joseph Gordon Levitt laughed off the question of whether or not he will be Robin. Either because he doesn't know or that he isn't.
Same thing happened to Aaron Eckhart about Two Face returning in an interview:
http://www.latinoreview.com/news/will-aaron-eckhart-be-back-as-two-face-in-the-dark-knight-rises-12896
and it has since been confirmed by Nolan that Two Face is dead.
http://www.nerdsociety.com/two-face-story-has-been-told-christopher-nolan/

The Joker not being in TDKR:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/blogs/heat-vision/heath-ledger-dark-knight-rises-55215

Killer Croc:
No need for an interview, it's common sense seems how there's no photos or a cast member announced for him.

And, finally, Ra's al Ghul:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/social-network-actor-lands-role-176577
Confirmed to be FLASHBACK sequences, thus dispelling the Lazerus Pits so far. (this being confirmed by sources and not dispelled by anyone in the media leads me to believe this is a fact)

and Liam Neeson would be in the film as a cameo as confirmed.
http://www.metro.co.uk/film/866505-the-dark-knight-rises-liam-neeson-spotted-filming-in-london

Now, in the days of secrecy regarding the film, I have a couple things on my side: facts and confirmations that aren't dispelled by cast members, things that ARE dispelled, cast interviews, and the that the psychics of Nolan's universe do not have anything supernatural in it as explained in TWO FULL FILMS. What I say is about the physics and confirmations is true, but I will WAGER that what ever conjectures I make around them will become facts. So, trust me or not, this entire thread is dedicated to what I perceive as what will happen.

It's not a matter of trusting you, it's a matter of you charging through the front door and slamming "evidence" down as rationale, and treating this film as a hotly disputed science, and not a hotly disputed entertainment medium.

And more so, it's about you dissing people who assume something from the comics canon will show up, and then making your own biased and rather uninformed assumptions. For example, just because something hasn't been dispelled in a media outlet yet doesn't mean the event won't take place on film. If you told your audience exactly what was going to happen before the movie premiere, why would anybody bother seeing the movie? We already know what's going to happen.

Quote
Killer Croc:

Complete assumption with absolutely no evidence. Just because something hasn't been proven to exist does not mean that it isn't there. Essentially, you're Bat-Atheist attempting to convince Bat-Church that there is no god, and neither side has persuasive evidence, so it isn't worth even mentioning.

Quote
So, trust me or not, this entire thread is dedicated to what I perceive as what will happen.

I have absolutely no doubt in what this thread is dedicated to. I put complete faith and trust in just what this thread contained and is supposed to contain. However, I don't have much faith in your social skills.

You also need to learn a few things about tone. For instance, your entire post, and every subsequent post, has a very elitist tone, as though you're talking down to a bunch of riled insubordinates. The tone is very demeaning, and most people don't appreciate being talked to like they're an idiot.

There's also a little thing called "imagination" which is required in the business of film making. It's been proven time and time again that no bat grappling hook could haul Batman and his ever increasing tool belt off the ground. That in itself breaks the entire foundation of your argument as presented in total and undeniable "realism."

If you're going to barge into someone's forum making wild accusations, condescending remarks, and elaborate presentations of petty purposes, then I recommend that you at least make sure your only real argument isn't made completely void by your protagonist's accessories.

Why are you charging at me?  >o:-( Honestly. I had time to put up what I think will not be in the film, but you reserve time to insult my "social skills" when you are trying to attack me on a FORUM? I didn't intend to insult anyone except make a jab at two Gamestop employees who were clearly just ganging up on me with misinformation about an obvious plot point in Batman Begins. If you are offended by my "elitist tone" (And no, I don't do the friggin' Dr. Evil thing when I used quotation marks to condescend anyone, I do it because it's what I learned in school to do when quoting someone), then I'm sorry. So, I take this as you thinking that I meant to hurt people by disregarding their imaginations. I thought I came off as sincere with what I have been researching, anticipating, and understanding what the Nolan universe is all about, not elitist. It's just when people make outrageous claims about certain characters, I think it's dumb because it gets people hyped up about the wrong reasons that make Nolan's films excellent.

And by the way, lack of evidence about Croc was exactly my point. With no evidence comes no assumption of him being in the film by way of filming wrapping up in October (look it up) and no announcement of an actor to play such a role.

See, this:

Quote
wrapping up in October (look it up)

Is condescending. You're assuming I don't already know when the movie comes out. You're assuming you know much more than I do. You're telling me "I know this crap, you don't. Look it up and see that I'm right."

You also completely misconstrued my entire post, and neglected to recognize the fact that Batman's grappling hook tears apart the entire basis for everything you've just said.

If your argument is with a pair of GameStop employees, print it out and hand it to them.

Quote
And by the way, lack of evidence about Croc was exactly my point.

Good example of misconstruption. I wasn't referring to the lack of evidence of Croc in the film, I was referring to the lack of evidence that he wasn't.

Dude, what is your problem?

"Complete assumption with absolutely no evidence. Just because something hasn't been proven to exist does not mean that it isn't there. Essentially, you're Bat-Atheist attempting to convince Bat-Church that there is no god, and neither side has persuasive evidence, so it isn't worth even mentioning."

Hmm... how did I "misconstrupt" that as being in favor of saying Croc ISN'T in the film?

And saying (look it up) isn't condescending! I never intended it to be insulting AT ALL! Why am I offending you so much?

Dude, why are you trying bully me on a forum? Answer the question please, because I used to like this place because the people are always awesome, but you are acting really mean spirited towards someone with a lot of effort for no reason. A simple, "here's why I don't agree with you" would have been just fine, but you are clearly trying to stare me down and tell me I'm scum. Why?

Post Merge: September 27, 2011, 05:49:13 PM
And as for Batman's grappling hook is an example of weapons that CAN exist in our present time. Watch the military channel and see the crazy stuff they have already. That argument doesn't win anything. A grappling hook is FAR different from a Lazerus Pit or a toxin that could restructure someones biology within seconds. But anyways, I'm done talking to you because you are enjoying bullying me on this forum. I'll make sure to never post anywhere near you again.

First of you guys need to use spoilers.  o.O#

Second if yall keep this up this thread will end up locked.

This argument happened because the way you worded/ word yourself Deceleration. I'm not saying your at fault cause it takes two to argue.

With no facts and just speculation you'll need to just watch trailers until the film is released.

Sorry I didn't use Spoiler alerts on what I was saying. It is speculation combined with cited facts from interviews and pages. I used words like "Wager" to state plot points that I was unsure about and "obviously this is like that" type of phrasing to pointing out the clarity of what I see best in the Nolan Universe to back my claims.

I will never seriously argue with anyone again because it's never my intention to argue with a cruel intention of hurting anyone on a forum in the first place. I do, however, like to debate things. I think it's one of the lowest things to do on the internet when a simple debate turns into a full-on assault.

So I am sorry if I offended anyone with my language. But as for the guy who punked me for using whatever offended him, it does take two to tango to create an unfortunate argument on an internet forum.

My writing skills don't reflect a Bill Maher type of high-brow condescension towards people, I try to just reflect facts as if I were speaking clearly and jokingly about certain things that I don't agree with (think Nostalgia Critic or Colbert type-humor).

I'll just continue to be apart of the Mugen community, work on WIPs, browse for new chars and stages and never do a post like this again.   #:-S

I honestly believe that there is at least a slim chance that Killer Croc COULD show up in TDKR. I think anything's possible with the people who have been working on the last 2 films, coming back.

What I don't like so far (and i'm not going to whine about it or anything) is that the movie is NOT being shot in Chicago. I think the environment of the movie was definitely a key selling point to the last 2 films. Gotham has ALWAYS had that Chicago feel to me, even in the cartoon it kind of looked like Chicago from certain episodes... sort of... lol.

So yeah, anything's possible. I wouldn't dismiss anything, unless it's already been stated by the movie creators that it won't happen.. like Two-Face being in TDKR. Deceleration even provided an article where Nolan said that the character will not be revived.. at least in his film series...
