Truth, Justice & the American way used to be his quote & he is a part of the Justice League of America. Look I don't mind a little politics in the writing like they did in the Kick-Azz comic making fun of Democrates & Michael Moore or in Dark Knight : Strikes Back poking fun a republicans but, to take Superman to this level is a gimmick all the way. It's designed to get people like me bent out of shape & maybe i'll tune in just to see what happens with the american pie superhero but, this is just as boring as Spider-Man taking off his mask in marvel's civil war story. My guess is sales will be hot for 2 issues then they will plummet & then DC will change him back. @-)

I dont think sales will change at all. It's not big news in comics. It wasnt even a publicity stunt, nor political. Just the opposite in the sense that Superman doesnt want to be involved in politics.

Really it shouldnt surprise anyone since the U.S. Senate attacked Comics in the 50's by conservatives from both parties, and forced to adopt that Swaztika called the "Comics Code".

Since it was abandoned comics hasn't been exactly pro government. Heroes like Captain America, and Supes havent been patriotic stereo types they once were. Even Cap was blown out of proportion in the media last year for calling the Tea Party "Un-American". It's hard to be patriotic when the government imposed on the industry ridiculous standards for so many years.

That aside the media blew something out of proportion that was a minor backup story in a historic 900th issue. It's not even being followed up on. The next issue continues the Reign of Doomsday storyline. Anyone that would jump on because of this wont find anything but the climax to a whole differant story
