I received this through Facebook from a friend and I think it is a good idea, so I decided to pass it on.

I currently do not buy my gas at the pump directly from a Mobil or Exxon station, although I do believe that the place I do buy from likely Does buy from one of these huge oil & gas companies. Still, I think that this will provide them with less revenues than what they get when we buy their brand directly.

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.
The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas .

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.08 at Arco and Costco for regular unleaded in Salem , Oregon and climbing every week.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point....keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) .... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers .
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am .. so trust me on this one.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

It is very sad to know that you think that way and I completly disagree.

It WILL continue to go up IF we do NOTHING. Egypt forced Mubarak to resign from office by COLLECTIVELY protesting. That was a GREAT example of what the people CAN do. They are doing the same thing in Yemen now.

I'm not saying that we should unite in violence, but we NEED to protest in some way. If you have a better idea, I am all ears.

BUT, if you do NOTHING, you are just accepting whatever fate they decide for us and we will continue to get stepped on FOREVER...

These gas prices are affecting prices of EVERYTHING, food, merchandise, you name it. Don't accept this. Do something...

If you don't agree, then don't bash this topic and let the ones willing to do something about it unite, and do their part...

If you don't understand what is going on then educate yourself.

I for one am tired of the government, the big corporations and the capitalist taking advantage of hard working, tax paying individuals...

I have replied with a post in a forum I hang out at regarding how much a Brutal Legend 2 and Psychonauts 2 petition will not be effective.

I guarantee that this post will be similar. I'm not going to do this. At all. As far as I know, stuff like this is just a rumor. Go ahead and pass it on to your folk, but If It doesn't do anything...I'm really sorry for you.

We don't need a revolution. We don't need to make a mess out of ourselves. Mind you that the Egyptian revolution had a more serious issue. Gas prices isn't the problem right now.

Hah, you're actually expecting an uprising, let alone a protest that the Government will hear, in a Democracy Republic?  

You have a better chance of succeeding in a Totalitarianist state than here.  Over there, you aren't allowed to question the Government's motives, but when you protest, they'll have no choice but to respond, which will bring their brutality to the public eye.  Here, sure you got a voice.  But who's listening?

Talk about evil.  The People's Republic of China, and the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea should adopt this method if they want to be unstoppable regimes.  

PS:  It's called Capitalism, built on the idea of "you MUST have it, so you will pay what WE want".

I'm sorry Luigi-Master, but this message is not for the government, it's for the consumers..."THE PEOPLE". Believe it or not, the consumer CAN make a difference.

What would you do if the use of a computer, X-Box, PS3 or any of your hobbies is measured and you get charged for using it, but you can't afford it, what would you do then? We are heading there. If you don't understand it, then don't comment.

@ Everyone - I don't know how old you are, if you work, if you are wealthy, or who pays for your food and gas, but this gas prices will affect anyone and everyone's pocket. If you are thinking this way is because it hasn't hurt you yet, but it will. Let your parents read this if you are not old enough or can't have a direct influence.

If gas prices continue to raise, we will see games being sold for $10 more, because it will cost more to ship them. Food, clothes, electronics and even entertainment will continue to go up in price, while our jobs will continue to pay the same.

Your petition for Brutal Legend 2 and Psychonauts 2, as well as my petition for more seasons of Wolverine and the X-Men are not determined by fans. It helps, but they are truly determined by Supply and Demand. Just like the accounting equation is "Assets = Liabilities + Stock Holders Equity". Supply and Demand is an equation on it's own.

If a substatial profit does not equal to "X", which is whatever number given by the "people" providing monetary support, all funding is cut off. If you want a game to have a sequel, you don't ask the company to make another, you ask the consummers to buy the original. Why do you think XBL and PSN DLC got so popular and we are being charged for every little addition to our games even when it is already part of the disk? Because we went crazy buying DLC once it was available. We confimed the demand. Why do you think TV shows get canceled? Because they are not generating enough revenue. What do you think will happen if the next game you like doesn't sell well? It will not have a sequel.

The same goes with gas, clothes, and everything else. If something doesn't make enough money it is not pushed or it is reduced to a more affordable, or "acceptable" price.

Price in every field is determined by Supply and Demand. If we buy more or if there is "less" of something useful, needed or wanted, the price will go up. It is not rocket science.

If we continue to use gas and energy the way we do, then the price will continue to go up. Now, I don't know about you, but I am willing to reduce my consumption, but I understand that most won't. They will just continue their daily existence and not care, until, it hurts their pocket. It is sad that there's people that prefer to do nothing and just accept whatever is forced upon us.

We are not asking for a revolution like it happened in Egypt or it's happening in Yemen. This is just a little step. If they have to sell their brand through someone else, then they will lose a piece of the revenues.

I say we do what we can until somebody else comes up with a better plan.

In the mean time, if anyone wants to help, reply to this thread with some good comments and let's start to do our little part to at least help some of this people understand what is happening and why they should care.

I am really tired of having to work hard and having the money I make be taken away from me by inconsiderate an selfish corporations. I'm disgusted at this capitalism and specially how our government allows it.

PS. It's always the same...people with money and power always want more, and they don't care who they step on in their way to get it. In the mean time, people that do nothing don't realize that they are part of the problem, not realizing that they CAN make a difference.

This type of e-mail has been going around for over 10 years, not enough people would ever be able to participate to make it work for one day. Sure the math sounds great, and if everyone gave $1.00 then world hunger would end but real life doesn't work like that. REal life is about supply and demand.
