Test footage from a film project five or so years ago, that was later abandoned, after realizing it would suck.

I didn't expect to see this leaked trailer.  ^^(PM)^
Art works (photo images) look good, but Lion-O in the movie looks different.  /:O

Thanks to Demonkai.  I got this MMPR photo.
I didn't know your name was :D. That's an interesting name.

Wow, that was funny. If they just did a series of Thundercat shorts like that it would be great.

Apparently a few weeks ago Cartoon Network released a trailer for the new anime.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the 80's a decade most everyone wanted to forget about?   :-w  Due to such things as "cheesy films, bad hair", and other things like that?

Needless to say, it's nice to know.

nah i loved the 80s. i appreciated it more now. it was fun for me. a bit harder with life coming up for most but it was a lot of good memories. today if you have regular tv there isnt sh*t on like it was before. now its nothing but advertisments and infomercials. Back then you had late night everything. Horror shows, music video shows and in the mournings damn there up till 11 am there were hella cartoons. even at 3 pm till about 6pm on week days. Cable has it all right now and even that gets stale unless you have the movie channels.

Style back in the day of the 80s are already coming back. you got kids who are doing what i used to then and rocking it now. it looks silly as hell to me cause they werent from that time era or even born then but it makes me smile that kids are trying to be cool how we were back then. The music was even way better. everbody is either audiotune voice or fake rappers not even living the life style they rappin about *Iceman ThumbsDown!*. There were so many talented artists you could get into. Even with the rock music. The movies were even better. Especially the horror. Everything was Rated R, gorey amd mo overdone CG FX for cheesy matters. Now a "real horror movie" is PG13. wtf?? that was the whole fun part back then as a kid. You wasnt old enough to watch that stuff and when you saw it, it was either that great or it scared you to death because u were 9 years old watchin a Gorey @ss movies like Demons (1985) or John carpenters the thing.

The 80s were an Golden era and these days Hollywood and the new gen are trying to replicate that in some either very poor or cool amusin way. So its funny I loved it 8)

The 80's was easily the best era for cartoons.  At least in my opinion.   Thundercats was my absolute favorite toon when I was a kid.   One of the best ever.   I'm glad this movie didn't get made.  The designs, while cool in the drawings... looked weird on screen.  Especially Lion-O.   Slythe looked ok.. but still nothing like he's supposed to.   I was worried when I heard they were doing a reboot of the cartoon.   Everything they've tried to reboot from the 80's cartoons so far as failed miserably.  Reboots rarely work out because they either try too hard to capture the original (and fail) oooor they go too far in the opposite direction and try to make too many insane changes to a beloved series ... (and still fail).

That being said.. what I see in the toon reboot trailer doesn't look so bad.    I will say that they did change the character designs rather drastically.   (If you've seen the group shot pic of the cast for this series, you'll know what I'm talking about.)   They gave Panthro Mutton chops FFS.. not only that they turned him into something that resembles an ape rather than a cat!   I had taken issue with the designs of a few of the others.. but after seeing them in motion in the trailer, I've descided they don't look that bad.

Still... I'm not very hopeful about this series longevity.

Naw, it's just the rotating generational gap, when I was in high school it was the 70s we made fun of, and the 60s before them. If you think about it the 90s has cheesy films (house party) and bad hair (hourse party 2) and now that I'm thinking about it, the 21st centry was just as bad (or good.)

The 80s brought us product centered cartoons like TMNT, He-Man, GI Joe and Thundercats. It was literally the beginning of the release of TV restrictions on programming. The 80s also brought us the technology we all live on day to day, namely Nintendo, Windows and the Mac.

awww no you didnt! no one rains on my 80's cheesy poof films and bad haircuts. wait a sec...its 2011 and we still have all that so what ya mean anyway? lol . heck its even cheesier, ya ever watch sci fi channel??? dude, cheesy is an understatement.

Well i am from the late 70's to 80's era. Best time i ever had! we had all the cartoons. we had all the toys. we had all the epic rpg movies like Krull! you ever seen Krull? watch it. Lord of the rings will forever be a hyper version of it. ok a whole different story , plus acors and yeah all different but Krull set that in IRON ! wait a sec as well we had all the martial arts films! Kung fu sunday, black belt theater, channel 48 drive in kung fu. i mean that was the Era of the run shaw brothers movies. !!!  we had the video games , arcades were packed! Music was ORIGINAL!  there were actually good r and b singers and OMG GROUPS!  metal was meal, rock was rock and breakdancing and poplocking on ya corner on a cardboard box requested hood battles! it was mad fun times back then. Today everything is watered down from yester years triumphs. graphics in movies yes are better but quality storytelling sucks.
Remaking the grand scale flicks and turning them into crapage . its like hit or total miss with the newer movies. hairstyles are all the same. people still rock mohawks, base cuts, fades and baldies, even mullets!!! the shag  and if you had a long tail warrented girls to wanna braid those things. lol.   So the 80's was the era we got good things and those times will always be missed and never forgoten. so says Lando33. lol

yep i remember that lol sad our new gen of kids are born through Cyber dating now lol j/k. but aw well. soon we wont have to meet people at all for "certain" things but just hook up the VR visualizer and stimulator and ya good ta go!  :D

but anyway back on topic...

I like what im seeing so far from the new TC series trailer so far for entertainment value. as soon as i saw the very first poster i already knew what to expect. from then on i just wanted to see it in action and ill just judge from there. the stpry script is the next thing. The action in any cartoon can be hot as hell but if the story is boring and doesnt keep you hooked in to watch any more it doesnt matter :-??

Since I was born in 1975, I have to say ~ Great Post ~, but you forgot some of the greatest Cartoons like Dungeons and Dragons, Transformers, Mask, Visionaries, SilverHawks, Super Friends and all the 80s Marvel Cartoons...  :cool

That was a great era...  :w00t:

Another Great Post. Very True, everything you said. By the way, I always loved Krull, and was blown away when I saw it as a kid, specially the cyclops that knew the exact day and time he was going to die. He was awesome and that weapon. I wanted one as a kid... ;D

That movie is a classic, but I saw it the other day and now I feel that it should be part of an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I still loved it, but I laughed my @ss off. Anyway, remember Excalibur, Legend and the original Clash of the Titans? Those were also classics...

PS. I always loved Ray Harryhausen movies and Kung Fu Theater...  :w00t:

hahahaha...  :DxDie

I know exactly what you mean. I had a Sword of Omens made out of wood and duct tape. I also made other ninja swords and nunchucks out of wood or broomsticks, hammer-nails and some chains. My grandfather used to be an industrial arts teacher, so he had a lot of materials that I was able to use to make all of my weapons...

TMNT, He-Man, GI Joe and Thundercats.  Sounds like my childhood in a nutshell.
The Anime looks cool, the other one would have been so bad.  Snarf Snarf.

The trailer for the FX Reboot actually looks good. May have to catch this just to see what's in store.

Gotta agree with everyone on the 80s. Gotta say times were simpler and down-to-earth back then. Sure we got a lot of cheesy flicks and hairstyles, but peeps were more appreciative and found joy in them even though technology and resources weren't so great. Nowadays, everything is so high-tech & high quality, yet peeps rag on them hard...even before they hit the market lol.
