No Sound After Leaving Game

Ok so I just discovered MUGEN fighting games so i quickly downloaded SMvCEoH and ran the exe after the download to start playing. I noticed the sound was crackling a lot so i just turned the sound off in the options and then the game crashed.  I rebooted the game and played the game awhile w/o sound before quitting. After exiting the game i noticed that my computer had no more sound. I tried restarting my computer a couple time and i thought that my speakers just blew out, but then I tried the game again with sound and the sounds came out of my speakers and now I have figured out that my computer sounds only work when the game is running. Im running on windows xp, does anyone know what is causing this huge sound problem and how to fix it? Did running the game modify my sound driver or something?

That's because you turned the sound off in Mugen, I honestly don't know why, but it effects your sound else where.  Just turn the wav and midi volumes up to 50.
