March 3, 2010 |By: Harley W. Lond: Hey little buddies, the S. S. Minnow is docking at Warner Bros.

According to a report in Variety, Warners and Atlas Entertainment have begun development on a feature film based on 'Gilligan's Island,' the iconic comedy series that ran on CBS from 1964-67.

Although it lasted only three seasons -- with 98 episodes -- the story of the seven castaways, who start out on a three-hour cruise and end up stranded on an uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean, has entered the hallowed halls of American pop culture.

Heading up the crew was Gilligan, played by Bob Denver, the Skipper (Alan Hale Jr.), the professor (Russell Johnson), Thurston Howell III and his wife, Lovey (Jim Backus and Natalie Schafer), Ginger the movie star (Tina Louise) and Mary Ann (Dawn Wells). Each episode began with the '"The Ballad of Gilligan's Isle,' which was co-written by the series creator and producer Sherwood Schwartz, and which acted as a weekly guide to the show's premise (much like Flatt and Scruggs' 'The Ballad of Jed Clampett' for 'The Beverly Hillbillies').

According to Variety, a story line is being kept under wraps, and no start date or release date has been announced. Additionally, no cast has been attached, although Schwartz, who is executive producing the project along with his son, Lloyd Schwartz, said in an interview last year that he was interested in Michael Cera playing Gilligan. There have also been rumors that Beyoncé Knowles would play Ginger.

Who do you think would make a good Gilligan? The Skipper? Ginger?

Im actualy susprized they havnt done this by now.
