The Future? New fighting engines Mugen-compatible!
« on: May 20, 2009, 10:35:55 AM »
Hi to everyone

here you are a list of the new mugen-compatible-engines found around the web.
The list was started by Lasombra Demon on RandomSelect forum, and i've done some improvements and copied it on many other forum.
Currenlty we are "interviewing" the author of each engine with some questions, just to make it clear to everyone "how it's going on".
You can find the list on:
- http://www.infinitymugenteam.com/Forum_345/index.php?topic=23468.0

INFO: (7th Jan 2009)
Hi,
First, thanks you for you interesting to my project, but sorry for my english, i am french :-)
1) Mugen compatiblity -  Yes, Direct-Xion-Game will be compatible with MUGEN creations, but DXG isn't a MUGEN clone. I make some programs to allow specific MUGEN files conversion, I also plan to protect the authors by an encryption system.
2) Current status? % done? - I am on this project for a long time, my objective is to finish it before 2010:-). This project is actually approximately at 65 % of his development.
3) Open Source? - I doesn't plan to release the sources for this moment because a company maybe plan to use it for a fighting game. Maybe later i think.
4) plans/features/platform? - General features :
 - Direct3D rendering for best performances
 - Possible 3D object rendering into stages
 - Collisions interaction with chars and stages
 - MUGEN compatibility for sprites, sounds and maybe states
 - Moveable Plugin architecture (graphic, audio, network, input)
 - Other animation approach (rotation, color filtering)
 - Components (sprites, sounds etc..) protected by encryption
 - High Sprites resolution and deph (16 or 32 bits for alpha blending)
 - New states controller and trigger
 - Some tools to make components (sprites, sounds etc..)
 - No English documention avalaible :-(
5) Cooperate/merge with other projects? - Why not ?! :-)

HOMEPAGE: FEO Official Homepage
FORUM: FEO Official Forum
INFO: (26 May 2009)
1) Mugen compatiblity - Yes, my engine will compatible with mugen characters. The engine will load all the mugen file formarts.  A convertion tool will only  needed for the cns  format  if the project is not fused with another project.
2) Current status? - Im currently working on it.
3) % done? - My engine is focus on online playing instead of making a clone engine of mugen wit addition effects features. So far i have finished the online playing system about 80% percent with network simulation.
4) Open Source? - Yes, it is open source.  I plan to release the source files once i get a stabe online version.
5) plans/features/platform? - Right now the main  priority of engine is a playable version with a game lagtency between 0 ms to 400 ms
6) Cooperate/merge with other projects? - I already talk with the creator of xnamugen and he agreed to let me port his engine to c++, win32, and directx and make it online playable.
But I am developing my own engine right now focus on the net, once a online stable version is done ill decide to fuse it or not.
7) Official Forum? - Right now, all I have is the google code portal , but in the futureI I'll have my own website. http://code.google.com/p/feo/

Why have you marked FEO as 'dead'?  The author has been posting about it very recently:

I'm interested in ShugenDo, but I don't like how it's incompatible with the stages. I hope they fix that.
