It's not a goodbye, it's just an until we meet again.
« on: January 12, 2010, 10:58:10 PM »
Some may have heard that I will be leaving to England soon, well actually I leave tomorrow night.  I'm going for student exchange in Derby, but also because my fiancee wants to go.  We will also be going to other places in Europe to look at relocating as well as returning to her home country Izmail, Ukraine.  We will be getting married in June.  I spoke to Laspacho about having to postpone on Plantman due to these circumstances.  Plantman is about 65% done in sprites and will continue to work on him while during boring wedding planning and other stuff :|.  Due me having to grow up, I'm going to have to put my past behind me, so the video games go into storage  :( yes even the Rockman :'(.  My fiancee only likes to play Little Big Planet and now New Super Mario Wii.  She says that I have gaming issues and I kind of agree :|.  Anyway I may not be on for a while unless I can sneak away and post something.

So I made some pictures for y'all to help me moan.....

 :'( :'( :'(

And there they are

Thank you Infinity Mugen Team for your time and your acceptance of the Nilakantha. ::salute::

Not the rockman.

Dude, straight up, gaming is in your blood man. Its part of who you are. I could understand if she wants you to cut back, but you can't cut it out completely. Once a gamer, always a gamer.

Anywho, as long as you occasionally drop in every now and then, take all the extended leave you need. Its been an honor. ::salute::

Wow, this actually saddens me. Well i hope you don't forget about your true family because we will miss ya (and that archive of games too!). Be happy and merry and say "ello" every once in a while with a progress report.

You should Open source your plantman sprites for future development in your absence, I'm sure with the amount of work you've been doing so far that it wouldn't take much to cap off the rest of his definition file.

Take care man.

Hey man, I hope everything turns out well with your fiance but you should not drop gaming cold turkey. That is a recipe for disaster. Gaming is a gamers form of crack. If you drop it cold turkey it will do way more harm then good. It's ok to do it in moderation or to cut back. But don't just drop the hobby completely. I know you love this girl or you would not be on that plane but if she can't handle your hobby then I can tell you now it probably won't work out. Being with someone in a committed relationship is not supposed to be at the expense of things you love. That is not love. You 2 need to come to a compromise on stuff like that. She can have her favorite hobbies and so can you. You just need to dial your hobby down a bit and do it in moderation. As long as you know how to cut back on your hobby and not neglect her, it should be fine if you keep it. But seriously don't completely quit a hobby you love. That's the wrong thing to do. If someone tells you that you have to quit your hobby to be with them, that is your first sign its not going to work out. So talk to her. Work out something to where you can have say 2-3 hours a week or whatever to have fun with your hobby alone or even with her. But basically just work it out with her. Don't just cut it cold turkey because you to will have problems eventually I guarantee it.

But good luck man I hope everything works out.

I have to say that I agree with some of the members here. If  a girl is going to stop you from doing things that you love, then I would be thinking twice about staying with her. My main hobbies BMX & Mugen. My ex a few years ago complained about both ( long story some here know it). Once I got over the initial shock of " I can't believe she's not here anymore " I was much happier. I've even been with some girls who think the stuff I do is pretty cool. So I hope you know asht you are doing & it all works out for you.

Good Luck to you & stop in when you get a chance

At least someone understands me and does not think I'm trying to play the counseling game. it should be simple common sense. When a girl comes between you and things you love. It usually ends up bad. So you gotta work things out. After all, marriage is, for better or for worse. Meaning even if you have the the worst gaming habits on the face of this planet or any other habits that can get extreme. Your spouse or soon to be spouse should work with you and not just say quit or I'm done with you!

I have still to agree with all this. My ex didn't understand the BMX, so I thought if I took her to the bike park & she seen what I did, she would think it was cool. So off to the bike park. I did some back flips & whips & she basically was more against it then. All I heard was " you're an idiot & are going to kill yourself one day on that bike " Which might be the case, but At least I will be happy. I swear that I was born with apair of handle bars in my hands. Anyway, I did make an effort to calm down & just sneak away to ride. When she had something goingon with her friends, I would sneak off & ride at the park. Well, this was right about the time I was creating Hobgoblin. We all know how much time  & dedication it takes to make all those sprites. Since I wasn't riding, I wanted to do something else I enjoy. I've always been an artist. Mugen is my latest way to realease my artistic side. Well i would sit on the computer & sprite. That p*ssed here off. So after Hobgoblin was done, I stopped creating & stopped riding BMX just for her. I was miserable. Then the moment came where it was basically " get rid of those bikesin the spare bedrom " Yeah, my house , so I have a bedroom that I never use & I have about $10,000 worth of BMX bikes in there. I kind of looked at it as " her or the bikes? " Do you want ti see thepics of all my bikes I have in the spare bedroom....lol

She was almost the perfect girl. Besides the fact she didn't want to let me do hobbies that I love & that made me miserable. Hence why we were together for years & that  always held me back from asking her to marry me.

I was with this girl for a loooooooooooong time. Everytime I thought about marrying her. I thought about all the things I enjoy that she wanted to make me stop doing. Most women do not understand a guys hobbies. BECAUSE THEY HAVE NONE. When a women starts dating a guy, that guy becomes their hobby. They think we should do the same. Like I said, I couldn't be happier doing things I like since I left her. If I didn't leave her, Wolvenom would have never came out. Because she would have never " allowed " me to make all those sprites. I started Medieval Spawn & Wolvenom after I broke it off with her.

Putting all your games in storage? Ouch. That's rather sad, for me to hear. :( It's a rather nice MM collection, I have to say.

Well, good luck with your trip and wedding, and come back to us soon! ::salute:: I'm pulling through for ya (in spirit).

i have to agree with xPreatorianx  and darktalbain on this with all heart. i myself am moving from pennsylvania to north carolina, my future wife lives there and me and her gonna do the damn thang! but rest assured i made sure before we even had gotton together she knew about what i like to do and all my hobbies. My woman just happened to be a gamer herself! what are the lucky chances of that happenin yaknow. trust me, take it from an old head, once you let go of a desired good for you hobby because someone else wants you to, you lose a part of yourself. we all have had to grow up bu gaming isnt about growing up, for us older than 30 and stil gaming its about i would say enjoying yourself as a whole . believe me when i say ,,  thaT HER NOT WANTING YOU TO GAME IS THE START OF THE END... IT SURE IS JUST THAT. i wish you luck and great congrats on gettin married but always think about this: it starts with your love of gaming just imagine then what else she want you to stop doing because she doest like it?when at the alter or heck even before, always think about all the dos your willing to give up that you liked tthat didnt hurt anyone comapared to her what she dont like you to dop and her wants. but if she is the good woman, the right one, then you wouldnt even have to say all this . i would say this... my hobby keeps me sane in an insane world! lol. good luck and  again much respect and congrats.

I agree with lando.

Here's some examples....

Stop sleeping with other women. Now that is a logical request from a grlfriend. Take your profile off that interent dating site you are on, again logical request.

I agree with lando....

Our hobbies are a big part of who we are. You take my bikes from me, you may as well kill me. I can tell by your game collection that it is definitely a big part of you. It's pretty sad that another human being that supposedly loves you is trying to destroy you in the process for her own selfishness.

I was with a girl who loved the 101 dalmatian movies. She had everything Dalmatian, Stuffed Animals, shower curtains, bed sheets, tooth brushes, etc.... they were every where. I still have a dalmatian towel at my house from her. Now did I like the dalmatians? Not particularly. But it was something she enjoyed, so I would never imagine making her get rid of that stuff, or packing it up. Actually I kind of helped her with that hobby & every time I seen some dalmatian stuff she didn't have,I bought it for her. Why? Because I understood her passion & I loved her at the time. You don't try to take the things someone loves from them, if you love them. As long as no one is getting hurt from an addiction such as games, dalmatians, bikes, what does it matter then.

I wish you the best of luck, though. Maybe you are the exception to the rule & you will be happy forever

Hello everyone.  I finally got some internet in my apartment.  My fiancee is in Ukraine with her folks right now, while I'm here in Derby.  I will visit Ukraine in two weeks.  I've read the comments and I have to personally agree as me and my fiancee discussed many things that would happen in our new life.  I pretty much told her that you have love me knowing that I am a gaming junky and that was one of the things that you love about me and to change that would result in a long lifeless and regretful marriage.  She agreed and since I don't play game as much as I did when I was a kid (mainly due to the lack of hot gaming titles >:P).  I guess she was worried about the average circumstances of a marriage and what wives and husbands are suppose to act.  I told not to listen to every husband tales that her girlfriends tell nor do I listen to the wives tales that my friends tell me.  Marriage is an adventure or which it is suppose to be and I don't plan to settle down soon and raise kids and neither does she, since we want to enjoy our adult lives.

Now on to England, no one told me a needed to have a TV License before I came here  ~X(, thats about 146 GBPs.  I brought my Wii and PS3 for nothing, because if you are caught with a TV in your prossession, you have to pay a 1,000 GBP fine.  I'm so miserable without no games, I'm starting to see little sack people roaming around my room  @-).  Anyway Derby is a very nice place, it kind of reminds me of Beverly Hills, CA or New York, NY.  I don't drink, but I have been going to the bars just to people watch.

I'll post pics of Derby soon.
