City of Heros

I got city of hero's from my brother as a late christmas present.
Anyone else here play?
Ive only made one character so far. He's called Tesla's Fist.
See the story i came up with is....

An alien crashed in victorian erra england and was forced to make repares to his life support suit using parts found arround the time. He died just after he finished but before he could use it properly. Then this american actor who was visiting england falls into this hole in the ground, breaks his legs but finds a path he can crawl down. He finds the space ship and it scans him. Then the ship puts the life support suit on him and it fixes him up and gives him enhanced strength and electral powers.

He's got this cool steampunk/alien scifi look to him.

Anyone else out there play City of Heros?

I was actually sort of interested in this because even the 35 year old librarian that worked there played it too.. I was like wtf... ... uh.. but if it's still going on then yeah, I'd play it soon enough. How extensive is the character creation?

Isn't city of heroe's similar to World of Warcraft where you have to pay to play?

Yes its an MMO like world of warcraft, but when you get it, you get your first month free.

Chracter creation seems to be very expancive. And you can buy "booster packs" that give you even more options for character creation (plus other stuff later on). And with the new edition you can buy, you get hero's and villans to make and when you get to a high enough level you can make bases and even quests from what i understand.

My brother bought me the Tech character booster pack.
